There is nothing in the United States anymore, jobs are scarce.
Over staying your Visa and getting papers is almost impossible.
It’s easier to get a college education in the Dominican Republic, Cuba and other countries then in the United States. Also cheaper!
And if you think you’re going to get married for papers the going rate is $15,000.00 at the cheapest.
Tons of Dominican migrate to NYC and live all their lives there come back to DR and have nothing to show for it. Not a house, No land, nothing.
Just Visiting? Why would you do that with; Swine flu, cold weather, Racist Americans, over priced everything.
The majority of Dominicans I know rather go to Europe anyway.

Your absolutley correct Chillaxin, there is nothing for the Dominicans in the USA any longer and I wish they would take your aunts advice and stay away. If they did the crime stastitics would improve, drug trade would go down and the US wouldn't have to spend so much money sending all the crimianls back to the DR. You have a higher percentage per captia of H1N1 in the DR, and talk about racist whoa don't even go there..... So I whole heartedly agree that Dominicans should go to Cuba or Venezuela to see first hand their leftist brothers accomplishments and take advantage of the great economic environment they have developed there...lots of opportunities there!!! Please feel free to you take your passport down to the US consulate and have your US visa removed.

The land of opportunity ? People laugh when I say that one day soon the disillusioned Yanks may be raft riding the rapids to third world countries for a better shot at the prize. lol .. History always repeats itself. The greatest most dominant world empires in history eventually all came tumbling down when the big bad wolf huffed and puffed and now abc's windmill is doing it to Uncle SAMS castle.. Chillin , you have your rainbow flag and your head up the statue of my forefather Columbus @*#.. Have you ever been to Cuba or Venezuala ? Ive been to both countries and perhaps you dont realize that the average doctor in Cuba would trade in his rubber gloves and tube of k-y for a taxi cab or a bell boys hat in a New York minute... Ask Fidels surgeon general what his P.H.D has done for him lately ..

Euorope is also on a downturn, most of the world is. As for the visa restrictions, this is tight because everyone wants to come here. Why do so many people die trying to make it to PR? Most Dominicans that I know have houses and land in USA and make alot more $$$ than they could make in any other country. I love DR but USA is the place to make $$$.

you are wrong when you say that there is nothing left in USA for Dominicans. Dominicans in USA make good money that part of it flows back into DR. I was born in USA and my family was born in DR. I love both countries and hope that both work together to get out of this slump. Some people on this board say that the answer is to run away and move to another country, they are wrong. These are the people that are scared to face their problems head on

US is being unfair to Indians - to Dominicans also I suspect.
http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/business/8086392.stmIf the US believes in free trade than it should allow in all workers - otherwise DR and others should shut off US goods, farm produce etc.

boo hoo, as an IT professional myself who cannot find work in the USA due to the Indians being CHEAPER not BETTER, and the fact that a lot of the IT workers in the USA are getting older, and therefore are not hire able. but there is no reason to bring in the Indians to replace the existing work force. For the most part having worked with many of the overseas people, they are very smart as long as they don't have to think outside the box. they follow a script to the letter, but innovative no,

If the US has good Indians working then on average they can be paid less. US will then import less chinese teddy bears, less oil to fuel outsized cars, ( Indians like to live in cities close to work ) , fewer 50 inch TV's and the goods the US will produce will be more competitive - US will export more - so everyone benefits. US software people can move to countries such as DR where expenses are less and telework. Those that have made their pile can give back to the World by using their outstanding imagination, etc. uniquely American, to write public domand software to benefit eveyone. By the way it seems to me here that working girls quite like BMW, Toyota etc.
