PUNTACANA, Altagracia.- The airline Gol began its local operations with the Punta Cana-Caracas-Sao Paulo route, through Punta Cana’s International Airport, becoming the only Brazilian carrier which currently flies to the Dominican Republic.
Goal airlines began its operations at the start of July with two weekly flights.
Punta Cana Airport general manager Francisco Alba said the new route is yet another accomplishment for the terminal, which received 58% of the tourists who came to the country in the first half this year.
He said of the 7,206 Brazilians who came to the country in the first six months this year, 2,913 did so through Punta Cana.
Alba added that Goal is among Brazil’s biggest carriers, with more than 800 flights to 49 destinations daily, and connections to the most important cities in Brazil and South America’s 10 major markets, using Boeing Next Generation 737s.

Keep those tourist coming, and the money they bring with them!
Let's also spend money on infrastructure and beautification and safety, so those tourist will leave their compounds to mingle in town and help local economy.
Win/Win situation-the way I see it.
Some tourists are too dumb and should not leave the resort areas not just in DR but in any part of the world. They are the ones that you see changing dollars/euros for pesos from a guy on the street. Too many scam artists in DR/everywhere.
But yes bring the tourist in
