Cleanup of La Caleta.

La Romana, Dominican Republic. - With the support of 350 volunteers from the communities La Romana and Bayahíbe, World Beach Cleanup Day was celebrated nationwide, with 800 pounds of trash collected along more than 500 linear meters of beach.

The La Romana and Bayahíbe Hotels Association, the Environment Ministry Provincial Office, Blue Life, D.O.N.A and Ocean Conservancy headed the logistics for the effort which lasted form 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m., in the first day of its campaign: Destination La Romana blooms without Trash.

“For the purpose of promoting the care of all our coasts, this year we’ve chosen to support the cleanup the public beach La Caleta in La Romana together with the community and as a way to emphasize to our collaborators the importance of environmental protection for the sustainable development  the destination,” affirmed the Association’s executive director Kelly Robinson.

This beach is not called La Caleta, but just simply Caleta. La Caleta is nearby Santo Domingo.

yes I am somewhere in the picture and correct ..it is called Caleta and is a very colourful strip of beach but I do not think for tourists ..little shade , loud music from every make shift bar and often vert dirty ...many Romana people take a gua gua to nearby Dominicus beach which is as white as Punta Cana ..regrettably about the same amount of rubbish taken from the beach now has appeared on the perimeter of the city on the San Pedro road
