HATO MAYOR, Dominican Republic.- The Environment Ministry announced the discovery of a waterfalls in a tropical rainforest near the town El Valle on Sunday, which will form part of the northeastern province Hato Mayor’s tourist attractions.

The 20 meter high Zumbador (hummingbird) waterfall is located in a tract of nearly 20 hectares with lush trees owned by Martha Frias, in the Los Haitises National Park’s dampening zone, west of the rural municipality.

Environment Ministry provincial manager Miguel Laureano said the fall’s discovery is important for Hato Mayor’s ecotourism development. “It’s a natural patrimony that will serve to boost the tourism potential of Hato Mayor and the East region, because it’s a natural aggregate which will result in invaluable benefits to the province.”

He said Zumbador – a paradise hidden by lush vegetation of ferns, royal palms, endemic mahoganies and other varieties- is the province’s highest waterfalls and urged the villagers to preserve it as a legacy of nature which will benefit its inhabitants.

The official said its three falls form a symmetric, interlaced cascade of water that creates a large pool for swimmers.

The locals will destroy it, with million of those little plastic cups they drink Brugal from.

And for some perverse reason HAVE to throw it on the ground instead of in a garbage can.

Funny they can discover a waterfall that has been here millions of years, but they still have a hard time discovering that corruption inside the higher ranks.

The waterfall at El Limon is well looked after. There is a small fee to pay for this.
It is about 11/2 hours walk from the highway.

One day you go regret it , we going take dominican rep

We Dominicans hate haiti so much.......OH YEAH ! the DR was the first to help Haiti.

You should bring those issues up with your own Government.

The real questions is.....
Do the Haitians love themselves ?

Haitians take over the DR ? you don't want to go there.....

Why don't you help Haiti prosper ?
Or is it now the giving has become taking......therefore why even try ? Or do like the past just wait for the next nature or man made trajedy ?

Has Haiti become the new "NANNY COUNTRY" of the world ?

Reality is the world is getting a little tired of helping [donating $] Haiti, but don't worry you guys have Sean Penn on your side.

I for one would like to see Haiti help Haitians from the inside for once.

I don't know all the facts but to think Haiti blames the U.N for the colera spread......

Example: the U.N like always a little TOO LATE.

God save Haiti.

You need to understand “government-speak”. “Discovered” does not mean they didn’t know it existed before. It means they’ve just thought of exploiting it for the first time, and want to pretend its and unspoiled oasis in the middle of the Dominican Republic rubbish-tip nation.

Dominican Republicans love Haiti - without Haitians who could they blame their massive crime rate? Ohh I forgot – it’s the government’s fault.

So Martha Frias “owns" 20 hectares but didn’t notice it had a 20 metre waterfall? She didn’t even notice the guided tours that have been going there since before 2007? Maybe it was on one of these tours that Miguel Laureano “discovered” the waterfall? Hilarious!

I'm one Dominican to say crime in the DR is the DR's problem. Haitian crime commeted in the DR is also our problem.

Good thing there is no crime in Auzzistralia.....but from what I'm told was founded by criminals ?

Crime is everywhere.

Riosm ... you are right that crime is everywhere, however the rate varies greatly. According to the latest statistics, the murder rate in the Dominican Republic is 23.57 per 100,000 population. In USA it is 5.00 and in Australia it is 1.20

It is true that many of the early settlers of Australia were convicts from England, (mainly for stealing food when thrown out of work by the Industrial Revolution) however most murders in Australia are not committed by their decedents, but by Aborigines.

Interesting that the highest crime rates are in countries with the highest belief in Christianity!

Risom ... F.Y.I. ...Murder rates in El Salvador, Honduras, Jamaica, Guatemala, Venezuela and Colombia are even higher than in the Dominican Republic. Iceland, Singapore, Japan and Hong Kong have the lowest in the world.

I for got you Auzzies don't count Aborigines as equals, there differant after all.

Hey Mate ! forgot to include Mexico's drug murders at 28,000 and counting, now that's murder by the numbers.

Written by: RoyStone, 3 Nov 2010 5:04 PM

you are right, we don’t treat Aborigines as equals – they are afforded rights, privileges and benefits that non-Aboriginals are not entitles to. That is why many people who are 1/16 Aboriginal and 15/16 Caucasian call themselves Aborigines to get all the benefits. Refer

Ahh Mexico - another God-fearing Catholic country!

Thanks for the info. kind of reminds me of our native peoples in the was the first welfare system ever started and look at the state their in now ? free this free that [intitlements, or guilt giving].

The U.S Gov. fails to understand is you can't change their culture. Most natives in the U.S are more happy with the simple way of life with.....take only what is needed and no more.

Since the 1960's we the people of color in the U.S have labeled ourselves minority's with the "some one ows us something for nothing mentality.

AHHH ! Mexico, I believe today is "Dia de los Muerto's" or "Day of the Dead" with all that drug killing this day has a real meaning.

They also worship [ idolitry] now get this......there "Virgin of Death" which is there new version of Mother Mary as a skeleton.

Death the new life.......I guess if you can't beat'um join'um.

Just so you know they fear the pope, Preist, Nuns and the little bombinos more then God.
Written by: RoyStone, 6 Nov 2010 12:10 PM

It is right to fear the pope more than god ... the popes exists and god does not (only in the deluded minds of believers.
Get rid of all stupid religions (Christianity, Islam, Judaism etc.) and the world will be a better, richer, safer, healthier and a more just place.
I understand that the thieves in Venezuela have a special saint they pray to, to bring them rich Gringo victims to rob!

Imagine that "86" all the 10 comandments / golden rule / human conscience / good vs. evil and live and rule by man's own laws.

Does this also inclued Money, power, fame, self pride.

Most humans who comment evil towards fellow man are full of the last four mentioned and with out a conscience.

Man can only live on earth for approx. 80 + years vs. where you spend eternaly willingly is up to you.

Man comes to God willingly not by Religion / force / lies or trickery.

Religion is man made, Faith is God should not confuse / mix one with the other.

I'll leave you with a thought......just think the next time you or a loved one or friend becomes a victim of ??? we'll excuse it as "The perpetrator living by his self man made rules ='s no rules".

Mans laws are Gods laws against mans ever corrupting 24/7 spirit & nature, the differance being man knows better or does he.

Reminder.......No one, not one lives for ever.
