Santo Domingo.- For the fifth consecutive year the trade magazine Mercado’s readers select American Airlines as the most admired airline in 2009, with a positive evaluation of its diverse products and services for the Dominican market.
The evaluation included a survey of 700 people who gave American a score of 50.4 percent, with more than 31.8 percent ahead of the distant second, preserving its position in the airlines category. ?
“We feel very proud and appreciate the results of this important survey in Mercado Magazine. This acceptance by the Dominican public confirms our commitment of 35 years with the community to provide them the best travel experience,” said Oliver Bojos, American general manager for the Dominican Republic.
Mercado readers selected American due to its extensive routes system, with more than 3,400 daily flights around the world.
In 2009 American’s Frequent Traveler Program AAdvantage® benefited more than 85,000 local affiliates with new and diverse mile accumulation programs, as well as its customer assistance centers and its support of sports, social and artistic causes.

AA is now the worst airline next to spirit.

spirit is good if you arrive at the airport on time... you can't beat their rates to Santiago

i really never understand why AA is sooooo great. These guys have never failed to misplace my luggage. their airplanes are trash (old, stink, and have seats that are nothing but garbage). I am somehow surprised these guys get so much business. With all the money they get they should upgrade their planes like jetblue or something.
Also spirit is good if you don't mind getting your flight changed last minute and arriving to your destination 5 hours after your so called time was suppose to arrive. There is nothing worst than spirit. the price is great but you get what you pay for.

dominica,
spirit gets the flight out on time but you need to make sure to be at the gate early because they over sell the flights and you could end up waiting for the next plane out...
clinker,
yes jetblu is the best... I love direct tv onboard and the extra leg room but they are the most expensive in December... flights were around $1,000 USD from Chicago to Santiago.
I think Delta has a good combination of price and quality

i really don't know if that is true. I won't make any judgments on spirit besides the flights i traveled on. I can say that i have traveled with them 3 times and only in the US. All 3 times the flights were overbooked and I got there 2 hours earlier and flight arrived at the gate 1 hour late and then they had to clean the plane. Second time, they left us in the plane for 1 hour because of unknown reasons. Third time, they overbooked again and it was like flying out of a war zone. everyone was pissed off and they had no answers. That's just 3 times so i can't say it happens all the time. But I will take your word for it. However, I think 3 times is enough for me and spirit is done on my list. I guess I deserve it because I tried to save money. But I learned that an extra 100 bucks is worth it for the misery and time is money. It kind of makes any vacation miserable if you have to wait at an airport for over 5 hours not counting the flight time.

Martha,
We smoke the same pipe again ! Somebody made a hell of a paycheck to give this disgrace of an airline a boost . Arrogant , unfriendly flight attendants that never smile , flights that never leave on time and now the tacaños dont even give you a bag of planters to gnaw on . They should start taking notes from Taca .. BEAUTIFUL , friendly latina flight attendants , clean comfortable planes , and they always give you a meal and a drink (alchohol as well) regardless of what class your in .

Ft lauderdale airport is a pain getting back into the country
From: Dominican Republic
What ? Lauderdale is one of the easiest and most convienient airports to travel from without the lines and customs and immigration headaches one must endure at Miami international .

Ric I have to agreed with you on your comment. The only reason I fly American its because of its routes to Haiti.

It sucks when you miss your connecting flight in Ft lauderdale because the next flight out is like 9 hours away...MIA has more options but its like a zoo in there

Shouldn't jetblue be on the list? they are far more cheaper. And they treat people with respect.

perez,
jetblue is only cheaper if you live in nyc... connecting from anyother city drives up the costs
