MICHES, Dominican Republic.- The Tropicalia tourism project, which the Gustavo Cisneros Organization affirms is ecologically responsible, luxurious, low density and sustainable, hosted a gathering in the Miches City council, to evaluate its environmental impact.

After several months of studies, specialists in botany, hydrology, sociology, geology, fauna, archaeology, laws, and on impacts, among others drafted the report, which stresses the protection of the environment and the integration of adjacent communities. "It has been determined that Tropicalia's project is a hotel and real estate development with a low to very low environmental impact on the nature in the area."

"The project’s design has been adapted to harness the area’s natural beauty and aims to improve the standard of living of bordering populations and reduce the possible negative impacts on the zone,” said Tropicalia vice president and general manager William R. Phelan, in a statement.

He said among Tropicalia’s main guidelines are the development of sustainable tourism which protects the environment, integrating the communities to the project’s growth, and guarantee the access to jobs for the local manpower.

I personally don't see much wrong if tourists and others come, stay in locally grown and constructed bamboo dwellings, eat local food, listen to local musicians making music and ride bicycles. Also waste is recycles and some of the profit goes to schools, hospitals, improvement of local diet etc.
And the project is sustainable. Local fishing could improve diet if properly managed as could fish farms etc.

Great project. Let's build it. People want to de-stablize the DR gov't.

The DR is doing well. Keep building.

The DR is doing well.

Oh really! Let’s examine that statement:

1. A International Narco Fugitive operates with impunity, basically in broad daylight and with the protection of high rank government, military and police officials not to mention the spoiled brats of the rich elites.

2. Where have the next to worst educational system in Latin America and one of the lowest rankings in the world in general with the honor of a 50% dropout rate at the university level alone.

3. Man has been able to harness electrical power since at least the 1700 and 310 years later ( the last10 non-consecutively LIE-onel Fernandez has ruled DR) and we Dominicans still can’t count on electrical service 24/7!

4. Some of the aqueduct systems in Europe built by the Romans are still functioning and we have water shortages in the urban centers and in the rural areas people have no running water, in the 21st century after man has walked on the moon.

5. We have all this “great development” yet the sharks in the Canal de La Mona continue to get fat off the corpses of our tragic fellow citizen, who for some reason don’t seem to enjoy the benefits of this “miracle progress.”

So who is allegedly is doing well in DR again?

Chapter Two of "Is DR really Doing Well!"
