Samana.– WestJet announced the launch of new seasonal non-stop service between Toronto and Samana. The inaugural flight departs from Toronto's Pearson International Airport at 10 a.m. today.
"Samana is the one of the Dominican Republic's best
kept secrets and
WestJet is excited to bring Canadian travelers to this part of the
island,"
said Hugh Dunleavy, WestJet Executive Vice-President, Strategy and
Planning.
"The gorgeous blend of white, sandy coastline and lush rainforests provide ample opportunity to see the local beauty and culture of the Samana area. The popularity of the Dominican Republic is soaring with the addition of destinations to our ever-expanding Caribbean network, in combination with WestJet Vacations' reputation for offering low-cost, high-value vacation packages."
WestJet will fly between Toronto and Samana once weekly until October 30, 2010.

S.
Mucho Loco,
I hope you will be in your best behaviour and welcome these tourists and their deep pockets to our land. I also hope your business will prosper as a result.
We should commit to minimize AI's in balance of DR, ensure that money percolates into rest of economic fabric and beyond menial labor. DR has much to offer beyond its abundance of beautiful beaches. I want these tourists to be immersed in whole cultural experience and venture away from their confy beach-front accommodations.
I further hope that some of the national patrimony will undoubtedly be preserved for us Dominicans-the rightful owners!
