More flights to Puerto Plata! Do not forget about the north coast. It's not good to have all of your eggs in one basket, that is what DR is doing with Punta Cana/east coast area.

blu,
the car gets dirty from Santiago to POP lol... Maimon is a great food stop...

POP needs some cleaning and upgrades, it still has a chance and the people from Canada love that place.

I love it because its a short drive away and you can still have a great time there

the fact that you are laughing your ass off, Profe, is a lasting reminder of your IQ, or what passes for one..if you believe that your remark is humorous, it is not. it sounds like the typical remark from some antisocial cretin. you should heed the bromide that if you cannot improve on silence, do not break it.

xwill7,

I agree with everything you say about POP and the north coast as a tourist destination.

Things are really tough down there right now. Just got back from 2 weeks in Sosua. Very few tourists in town (compared to last July when there were a lot more). The vendors are really struggling trying to sell merchandise. Some of the Haitian vendors are particulary desperate: one guy who tried to sell me something I didn't need said he was hungry and asked me to buy him something to eat and drink from the super playero. Another asked me to buy a couple of bags of rice for his children. Even at night it is slow. Walked along "the strip" on my way to PJ's restaurante for a burger and a few Presidentes and took a peek inside the big clubs - almost no guys with the girls sitting around the bar twiddling thier thumbs. A bartender at my resort told me that only 2 hotels are open in Playa Dorada right now. Everyone is saying things should pick up in August.

Love POP/N. coast

Goldie locks

What happened to you? What the truth hurts? Fuck you and your education bull shit. You are just an ignorant bastard.

POP is Beautiful, but the tourists are feed up with the crime in the area, too many hookers, Drugs, murders, theft, and so on.

POP is a beautiful town and has a unique flavour that was traditionally more cosmopolitan than Santo Domingo ....Trujillo ended all that with his vendetta against POP ......it will come back and get fixed ....

DRmaker,
It seems like the major hotel chains are bringing people in but most do not leave the resort area like they use to... Even the airport is not the same as before. But it will come back

spoken like the true ignoramus you are, El Profe. f education, he says. i can see that you did just that. maybe if you did not have such contempt for education, you would be able to post something worthwhile, and not have to resort to 4 letter expletives. i guess that barroom vernacular makes you feel like a tough guy. the only thing tough about you is your skull.

the illegals begging on the street and vendors hounding you to buy stuff make leaving the resort area a bad move

Sorry but hearing guys on the street asking me to buy rice for his family makes me depressed. Not exactly the ambiance for a fun, happy go lucky vacation. Let me tell you something, the last thing I want while I am on vacation is some vendor harrassing me to buy his wares, particularly if I did not approach him. I hate that. The problem with PP is the people looking to rip you off. If the area is ever going to come up the Dominican Tourism dept must do a major overall for the area if it is ever going to get off and running. They got to organize those vendors. I know they need to make a living but being a pest makes the tourist feel uncomfortable. I want to help them, but I can't help everybody, otherwise I will end up just like them, hustling and hocking wares on the beach in sosua.

Puerto Plata self destructed by forgetting to build, maintain the infraestructure, and they used "sex" for martketing and now it's old news. Grupo Punta Cana made Punta Cana what it is now.

- Private airport
- Privaet power utility (CEPM) = 24 hrs of electricity
- Built and funded security (National Police & Politur)
- Created the standard for building with "sanitary infraestructure in mind"...

My same sentiments. Twelve years ago I had the same unpleasant experience with my wife. Terrible, and leaves a clear and present reminder to all. I would extend the jhcl2012 suggestions to other areas. Have a Red Line district and if caught outside this zone, jail time.
