Miami.– Direct Air announced yesterday it will fly to Puerto Rico and the Dominican Republic from Palm Beach International Airport.

According to the Palm Beach Report, the Myrtle Beach, S.C.-based carrier said nonstop flights on Boeing 737 jets to San Juan and Punta Cana will begin Dec. 16.

Direct Air announced last month that beginning in November, it will fly from PBIA to Worcester, Mass.; Niagara Falls, N.Y.; Kalamazoo, Mich.; and Rockford, Ill.

more flights to Punta Cana ,leaving Puerta Plata in a deeper hole ..soon , someone with imagination and drive will have to do something to revive the north

The Market has spoken. If it was economically viable somebody would be doing it. But It isn't so nobody is wasting their money doing it.

Of course people like you probably want more money stolen from productive members of society to subsidize tourism in the north.

oh man of little substance and low social morals , yes I would like the Dominican government to do everything they can to motivate the various businesses in the north to renovate and improve the hotels, to clean up the cities and towns and to promote the north coast ..towns like Puerta Plata , Sosua , Cabarete, Rio san Juan and Cabrera have great potential .
If the government can work with the tourist industry in the north to improve the tourist business there, more Dominicans will share in the economic wealth ...but I understand you have scant regard for those who need a helping hand .
