This is because the airport is private. Grupo Punta Cana under the guidence of Fran Rainieri and associates know how to produce a good product that is free of government title and associated impediments. The people they hire to administer and market the airport are top notch for their business sense and leadership.

Learn Dominicans Learn to keep our country as it use to be, Stop the crime and enjoy the beauty that the country can offert to us, Remember that is not what your country can do for you, But what can you do for your country.

If good to excellent services are available the natural beauty and beaches will keep them coming. DR Open For Business. Export or Die! Emulate Chile and Costa Rica. Strip away the anti-business tinge associated with the DR and better outcomes will be produced: a richer and more prosperous DR for all to enjoy.

I used to live in a town with a municipally owned ( i.e. people of the area ) international airport. Most years the airport made a good profit and local taxes were low.

If Punta Cana had been nationalized it could have grown even faster.

Looks like Punta Cana is taking most of the tourists that Puerto Plata is losing.
