Santo Domingo.- The Santo Domingo Hotels Association and the Tourism Ministry announced Wednesday that the streetlights along the seaside boulevard Malecon will be restored, as well as the relaunch of the Colonial Zone and the shopping street Conde Peatonal.
They also announced the increase of Police patrols, during a meeting with the new Tourism Police director Pedro Cáceres Chestaro.
Also present in the meeting were Tourism Minister Francisco Javier Garcia, National District Prosecutor Alejandro Moscoso, State-owned Power Companies CEO Celso Marranzini, and Santo Domingo mayor Roberto Salcedo, among others.
Marranzini pledged to provide all the necessary support for the streetlights, which has been a constant demand by locals who visit the Malecon with their families.

For that matter, how about keeping any promise?
Now you get a bunch of tourists and they are enjoying the security of all those light.
What is going to happen when those lights go out? Now DO NOT tell me it won't happen.
The DR electrical sector is NON existent.
These people are morons. You do not have the infrastructure to support lights let alone new lights. These people cannot think past the end of their noses.
Where is the government's official knuckleheaded representative to DT to tell us how great these improvements will be?
Not if you are a parrot!
