PUNTA CANA, Dominican Republic. - The Group Puntacana Friday morning cut the ribbon for a new runway and modern control tower in the Punta Cana Interactional Airport.

The new facilities convert the airport into Central America’s and the Caribbean’s most modern air terminal, affirmed Puntacana Group president Frank Rainieri, in the ceremony headed by vice president Rafael Alburquerque.

He said the new 10,171 feet long, 150 feet wide runway will allow the landing of wide-body jets such as the extended-range Airbus and the just launched Boeing-787.

The tourism sector leader said the new facilities are the air terminal’s 8th expansion since inaugurated in 1984, and will now allow operations for a higher number of planes.

Well it does handle more passengers than any other airport in the DR and is the best in the country and try to book a hotel there for a week in January .
It is wonderful news for the DR ...so sorry that other tourist destinations here do not have the same drive and leadership so more people could share in the prosperity

This is the kind of news that has no relevance to the overall daily quality of life for most Dominicans but makes Atabey and Ricky go into orgasmic neoliberal wetting of their G-strings!

Too bad the country's official ribbon cutter Leonel Scissorhands was on an extended 10 day vacation with 50 or so of his government cronies visiting other countries.

Nobody does it better.

Yep, that the story of our country.......facing a bunch of egomaniacs, doing what they do best, blaming us for their own shortcomings.
