PRESS RELEASE

Samaná, Dominican Republic.- The Samaná Tourism Cluster (CTS) proposed a joint agenda to the various tourism sectors to improve the quality of the services and respond to the challenge posed by the new investments and infrastructure which projects the zone among the Caribbean’s leading tourist destinations.

In a gathering with senior local authorities, hoteliers and business leaders representing several social organizations, Tourism Cluster president Rafael Blanco Tejera invited the province’s leadership to forma a Development Commission which works in an integral improvement project for the communities and to deal with the demands of an increasing flow of local as well as foreign visitors.

“This commission will serve as a joint space to promote initiatives that contribute to adequately manage the problems, to raise the quality of the attention and to provide the visitors sustainable and increasingly attractive tourist destination, guaranteeing public safety, clean and lit streets, and orderly and well kept beaches,” said Blanco Tejera.

Present in the activity were provincial governor Fausto Forchue; Tourism Deputy minister Elsa de Leon, Cruise Ship director Orfila Salazar, Tourism Ministry Ports director Alfonsina Roedan, Samaná mayor Miguel Bezi, among other officials and business leaders.

This is very good news for Samana. Now that the roads are getting better and better it will not take long that tourism an investment in Samana will prosper. That means new jobs and a better life for all and with the support of everybody involved Samana will have a great future.

You can start with cleaning up and repairing the footbridges right in Samana. It is a disgrace to attempt to walk these only find them to be hazardous and garbage dumps. The city government should be ashamed of themselves for allowing this to deteriorate to this point.
