Punta Cana, Dominican Republic.- The Sosúa and Cabarete Hotels and Restaurants Association aims to relaunch that north region tourism resort via an alliance with the Tourism Ministry and the city councils of those communities.

Association president Diego Garibaldi, North zone Tourism vice minister Cesar Jose de los Santos and Sosúa councilman Adolfo Farrington attended the Dominican Annual Tourism Exchange (DATE) in the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino for that purpose.

Garibaldi cited Sosúa-Cabarete’s attractions, especially its night life, as well as the culture of Jewish settlers, the kite sailing and surfing championships and the already traditional jazz festivals.

RIGHT! Are you going to stop the 24 hour a day prostitution in the streets of Sosua (girls and boys, all ages), and get rid of the disgusting looking scumbag men that are everywhere? Sosua is DISGUSTING, and you will change nothing. I hear NYC men on the plane to RD talking about being able to order their sex partners in Sosua online, before they get there. Sosua is noted around the world as a sex destination, ONLY.

Sosua went down the drain years ago. It was the pioneer tourist location in the DR, one of the areas which launched the industry from the unknowned to the lime light. Unfortunately, It used a business model that at the time was feasible, but later no longer worked. It failed to change and adjust, adapt as times and the industry took a different direction.

It order to make it work, they must do a complete overhaul, a total face over, a full image clean-up and do a lot of polishing, other then that, I just don't see any other way out of it present doldrums.

Where have you guys been? Sosua has been cleaned up a LOT. So much that the streets are empty. Only place safe for a working girl is the Disco or closed clubs. The girls need to be accompanied by a gentleman now to walk the streets.

Female Mayor was elected and changed the face of Sosua.

Now Sosua is no different than any other city prostitution wise. Equal to Santiago and Santo Domingo. No longer in your face. Businesses have been complaining all day and all night.

I agree with Escott.

Sosua has been cleaned up a lot. I was there this March and noticed a big difference from trips before:

Virtually no working girls to be seen during the day time.

Working girls no longer filling up the side walks outside the clubs and discos at night.

More tourist couples and groups of tourist girls in the clubs and discos.

Seems a lot safer to walk now.

Sosua has changed a lot!

I like it.
