KHUMBU ICE FALL, Nepal.- At 9:30 a.m. Sunday Dominican mountain climbers Iván Gomez and Karim Mella completed their third and last rotation to acclimatize their bodies, and are ready to tackle the summit of Mount Everest.
To acclimatize they had to climb for third time the Khumbu Ice Fall, after the glacier’s flow had changed course, making unusable many of the steps which had been placed there.
Mella climbed first while at base camp Gomez was recovering from intestinal bacteria, which also sickened several members of the group.
