SANTO DOMINGO.- Dominican Republic wants to attract even a tiny percentage of the millions of Chinese tourists who visit different places around the world every year, the Dominican Trade Office representative in China said Friday.

Rosa Ng conditioned the materialization of that aspiration on that the government and especially the Tourism Ministry and the tourism industry design and implement a strategy of visibility in China or which showcases her country’s attractions.

She said 32 million Chinese tourists visited diverse tourist destinations everywhere in the world last year, and noted that the lack of diplomatic ties between both countries both doesn’t prevent Chinese tourists from coming to the country, as Shanghai Expo coordinator stated to Dominican Republic’s Tourism Minister last year, that the way was open.

Ng, interviewed by Manuel Jiménez and Angel Barriuso on Channel 45, said she’s satisfied that the country’s proposed marketing strategy agrees with the effort carried out by the Dominican Export and Investment Center (CEI-RD).

Honestly these "news articles" are getting harder and harder to read, why with all
the typos and improper use of words. Written in spanish and using the Google
translator tool? is that what's going on here?

Someone proof these, Please.

I hope the Chinese would refuse to visit DR until such time as that fool judge who had the Chinese restaurant owner incarcerated over size and quantity of chicken be properly reprimanded and dismissed. She was one of our finest example of power abuse and mental corruption. Just the kind of attitude that sets way, way back culturally.

This is great. France attracts the most tourists of any country in the World. Fortunately DR has good air connection with France - Air France - and this airline has a fleet of A380's

So Chinese who have taken the first step to Europe on follow up tours will find it easy to visit the DR.

Also there is a growing Chinese community in the DR. Many Chinese products are available and there are more every day.

DR has excellent hotels and superb amenities.

I disagree also; the only thing worse than a frenchman is a haitian pretending to be a frenchman or a dominican or something other than haitian.

Before Tourism Ministry implements a strategy to attract more tourists and showcases the country’s attractions… they should start by getting rid of crooks affecting DR investment and tourism...They should start by giving a prison term to the crook president of the International Federation of Realtors ILONKA CASTILLO and her family … check their record: http://www.dominicantoday.com/dr/....tors-in-Dominican-Republic-villas

Now far fewer hard luck stories are being heard. It is of course wise not to put all funds in one project in one developing country - just as it was not wise to put 10 million in a condo in Florida if this is to become the person's main asset. Or indeed to have put 10 million in General Motors shares a while back.

Someone advising me when I purchased a property in the DR said that it is wise to consider that you may loose 50 % over the next 10 years and be prepared for that.

The more likely upside is of course that the property may double in value or more. Plus there is rental income etc.

The Chinese are well versed in taking risks on property; as with all investments there is a need for much diligence.

Attracting the Chinese is a significant venture and I hope it meets with success.
