Very good and I hope this becomes a trend all over DR. But in truth it will really kick in when people begin to understand that leaving behind trash and dumping in public areas and water ways are poor environmental choices. Let's have some more rivers and more kilometers cleaned up!

I hope we get to this level in Haiti one day. Hats off to DR for 1. Doing serious shit & 2. Putting up with ours (Haitians).

Nice to read that local people are helping by cleaning up their local river. Only when others realize that by keeping the place clean will tourists really start to spend their money. It is hard to convince tourists that they should care about your country (or any country) when they see the highway lined with trash.

Keep up the good work!

Hola to all.
It's really good to see that people care about this beautiful place. I go to Punta Cana every year and see alot of garbage laying around. I'am coming there from Dec 30 till Jan 14. If there is any of these clean ups going on when I'am there I would like to participate in one of these clean ups if it is on when I'am there. I'am from Canada as alot of you know and you ask yourself why would anyone want to do this while on holidays. When I retire this is going to be my home so if I help take care of it now it might just be a little better when I get to stay there for good...Love this country and the people. If anyone knows of any clean ups going on at this time of the year please let me know

Just maybe we the goverment can start a campaign and put up signs advising Dominicans to not to trash their beautiful country and stop throwing beer bottles and garbage on the side of the road and highways. I se to date a Dominicana who pissed me off by throwing trash on the side of the road while I was driving. When I chastised her for doing this, she retorted that someone will pick it up. I don't date that pig anymore. DR is one of the main jewels in the carribean the goverment should take a lead in making sure that the country remains beautiful.
