Santo Domingo. - The sustained growth in imports from the United States in recent years and its impact on the Dominican economy has motivated the American Chamber of Commerce (AMCHAMDR) and the U.S. Embassy’s Foreign Commerce Service (FCS) to organize the Napa Valley Wine Training Tour 2012, from November 1 to 6.
According to National Statistics Bureau figures on wine imports to Dominican Republic provided by the Customs Agency, from 2004 to 2009 wine imports tripled from US$7.8 million to $21.8 million.
Likewise, wines from the U.S. are gaining acceptance into the Dominican market, accounting for 12% of the total wine imports ??in 2009.
Despite Napa Valley being one of the smallest of California’s many counties, the wine it produces is among the most important factors to its economic strength and international prominence.
