La Romana, DR.– The board of directors of the 7,000-acre Casa de Campo resort have named Peter Bonell as its new Chief Marketing Officer. He was recruited by Jose "Pepe" Fanjul, Jr, one of the resort’s principal owners.

"The decision to have him join Casa de Campo was a very easy on, considering Bonell’s extensive background in the industry," Fanjul Jr said. "Peter’s passion, energy and results-oriented mentality will undoubtedly yield impressive returns for the resort."

Bonell’s previous work includes the position of vice president of sales and marketing at Grupo Punta Cana; vice president of sales and marketing at Colonial Williamsburg and vice president of sales and marketing at Hershey Entertainment and Resorts, among others.

He must be a magician to make people appear out of thin air.
It appears to me that the number of days this place can survive as a resort are numbered.
No one on golf courses, restaurants and beach whenever I am there.
Villa owners are in a separate situation;

Casa De Campo = your neighbor is probably a drug dealer or a high ranking Dominican Government official.

Same difference.

Funny comments from people who couldn't afford to stay there even if they wanted to.

During the season try to get a Tee Time at a reasonable hour.

Been there, done that. Casa de Campo high maintenance rates are driving villa owners away, and the market is saturated with sellers wanting out.
Most smart villa owners sold and went to Punta Cana folllowing Oscar de La Renta, and Julio Iglesias, who swore never to look back.
I agree with walnut, the place is a has been, running on past fumes.
Instead of new management, new owners are warranted, and the Fanjuls can keep what they manage best, the slave labor sugar mills!

Never been there and I don't play golf but a friend of mine belonged to a foursome that used to do an annual trek there from the states for many years. They stopped going there because hey said the place was getting run down.

Every time I try to make a detailed comment on the problems of high maintenace costs at CDC and dissatisfaction of owners it is not permitted ..the only thing I disagree on , in the posting by generoso is that there are very few homes in the Punta Cana estate and no social life at all

But if you were to ask me which courses are in better condition Punta Espada and los Corales win hands down and if you were to ask me which hotel I would prefer to stay in , the CDC hotel would be at the bottom of the list but if you were to ask me which homes have had the least depreciation in market value , CDc would be at the top and Cap Cana at the bottom

AnthonyC,
When was the last time you stepped foot inside CdC?
Tee times difficult to get?
I have lived there for over 20 years and it has never been so empty.
Tourists do not come anymore; only the wealthy Dominicans show up on weekends.
Restaurants, the beach and the golf courses are deserted.
Real estate prices are soft, fees go up without recourse and Costasur has no plan to improve.
I believe the hotel will close and be demolished for homes to be built.

had a great day today. got up and did a nice, brisk, 3 mile walk. went to Cabarete to try to meet up with a buddy of mine, a fellow poster. hooked up with another buddy, drank a few beers with some primo women. made a nice dish for dinner, and now am chilling. what did dreamkiller do? got up early, started looking for a fight. forget the walk, as he can barely get down his stairs. while i was out with my buddies , he was still looking for internet fights, at 1pm. the guy has no life, no friends, no family that will admit to him being a relative, and is just waiting to die in his solitude. he can't even go home again, because he is a man without a country, who just makes himself a pest in other people's.. what a way to end up. now you understand why he is so angry?

CdC is not going anywhere. And the "Teeth" is far and away the best golf course in the entire Caribbean! One of the best in the world for that matter! While they spend millions up on millions at La Cana and La Corales, neither are as good as the "Teeth". Get over it!

What hotel / resort is worth staying in at Punta Cana Resort? Perhaps one of the all-inclusives up the coast, but nothing at Punta Cana Resort that is affordable or in decent shape. Stayed at the Punta Cana Resort a few years ago and nothing worked, not tohe AC, not the lights, place was not clean and half of the resort's cafes were closed. Punta Espada NOT La Cana is in the tank - kapoot! They would sell but can'f find another fool. Still, the best golf resort in the D.R. is Casa de Campo, head and shoulders above the rest. Still there after some 40 + years of operation!

are you saying that Teeth of the Dog is enough, in and of itself, to keep CdC afloat?
Written by: BigBossHoss, 15 Oct 2012 7:39 AM
From: United States
@ Dreadlocks Not at all, but throw in Dye Fore's 36 holes, and the easier Links Course at CdC, and the La Ramono CC, and La Estancia just up the road (P.B. Dye), and you have more quality golf in one area than anywhere in the D.R. But the "Teeth" is the best course, and the best known course in the d.R. While La Cana is a very enjoyable layout, it is not maintained in top condition - very shoddy. Punta Espada is very good, but only one course there -you need multiple courses to attract serious vacation golfers . Corales is very good, but the de la Renta's and Rainiere;s want it to be their private playground. CdC is better equipped to handed the North Americans than is Punta Cana area. I am talking golf vacations.....not the all-iniclusive holiday hunter.

i hear you, Hoss. however, if all Casa has to offer is some good golf courses, and the rest of the services suck, there are hundreds of better courses in places like the USA, and those have first rate amenties.

@ dreadlocks You are 100% correct. If service is lacking, they won't get return business. And with the cost of airline travel increasing significatnly, we are seeing more drive-and- stay golf resorts in the USA having business pick up a bit. Pricing has come down for golf and hoteliers and golf destinations have seen their business begin to increase. Golfers - buddy trips - like to go and play 4, 5, 6 or more different golf courses and stay in clean hotels with great service and great food. Interesting note: In the USA, we are seeing more UK / Scotland / Irish coming to the USA to stay and play at notable golf resorts on the east coast. For American golfers seeking international golf travel, US golfers still like Scotland / Ireland packages - that business is getting healthier by the month.

Hoss, i know less than nothing about golf. on the other hand, i know a lot about Americans. they will pay whatever you ask, but they want quality, in return. their motto is ' fool me once, shame on you..fool me twice, shame on me". they are not going to spend their hard earned money on crap. the second thing is that Euros get a month, and six weeks, vacation, every year. the average American gets 2 weeks. he, or she, usually breaks that up into two one week trips. so, if a Euro loses a week in a bad location, he has 5 weeks to recover. the Yank has shot half his wad. not to mention how hard he works to get 2 weeks. he cah go to the Carolinas, and find a gazillion golf courses that are better than anything in the caribbean.

@ dreadlocks.....you are spot on. The Caribbean will always have the weather. But safety and cleanliness will always be on the top of any US traveler. NC, SC, GA, and FLA have al be havens for US golf travelers.

Hoss, 25 years ago, if a traveler went to a country and had a lousy time, he went home , and told 10 family members, and a few guys at the job. today, he tells the internet. you can spend a billion dollars on promotions, and commercials, and that could all be undone by a website forum, in which guys with similar interests relate their experiences. if 18 out of 20 guys say that had a sh*tty time at Casa de Campo, no amount of promotion is going to get other guys to go there.

You are so "spot on". Who gives a sh.. what these fools believe, what they do and the garbage they write to each other. Kindergarten 101. With Goldie Locks (DREADLOCKS) he's the bad dude who should sign up for Ultimate Fighter, WWF or the local ladies sewing circle, Bafoon (elBuscoon) and a few others, it is transparent they do not have a life and this site gives them a venue to act like small children with each other.

All the children who have used threats, foul mouth or just being stupid are to go to the nearest corner for TIMEOUT.

Watch how these babies respond to my email. Do you think I care what these idiots say? Check out their responses that will suredly follow. That is how predictable they are.

To "B" Belgium. Check out how many times the "kids" use the word "I". They love to talk about themselves or report on things others have said. Someone should introduce them to the new craze called "email" so they can continue their 101 on their own screens and not this site. It is so disgusting, they have accomplished my lost of interest to viewing this site ever again.

Watch their infantile responses. It is not only predictable but laughable. To the rest of you who view this site and who are as disgusted as me, you need to be vocal and express your discontent with their verbiage.
