Samaná, DR.– The wale season begins next month in Samana and visitors to Punta Cana will have the opportunity to whale watch with day excursions from Punta Cana hotels.

Samaná is best known for the hundreds of humpback whales that visit each year from late January to late March. They visit the Samaná Bay to mate and to nurse their newborn calves.

Due to the mating season, males are very active to “show off” to the females, making Samana one of the best places in the world to whale watch, according to the World Wildlife Fund.

Whales are smart creatures, they have feelings probably s much as we do and live in big to small bonded family / peer groups!

That is quite some excursion going from Punta Cana up to Samana Bay but I would love to do that . Most of the civilised world is opposed to the needless slaughter of animals ,whether they be whales or elephants or tigers etc.,,they are beautiful to look at and to admire but why kill them .
