Santo Domingo.- The Mayor of Green Bay, Wisconsin says private donations will pay travel expenses for a trip to cultivate a new Sister City relationship in the Dominican Republic, greenbaypressgazette.com reports.

The media outlet said City records show that Jim Schmitt spent about $1,200 during the three-day trip between May 8 and 11 to Santiago, Dominican Republic. “The Green Bay City Council in January voted to pursue the Sister City relationship,” with the industrial hub located in the country’s north-central Cibao region.

According to the news source, Schmitt said he started a fund with private donors several years ago to pay for city-related travels that might come under question among some aldermen.

“Alderman Andy Nicholson has asked the mayor for a full accounting report of the Dominican Republic trip,” greenbaypressgazette.com.

Maybe Green Bay needs to build a new recycling plant. DR imports trash and exports cigars.
