it will take more than a lot of fancy descriptive words to get pop back on the tourist map.
a complete attitude change is needed and direction which will be impossible if the hands don't get of the cookie jar
the direction of pop is in the hands of a group of self serving "politicos" ( current amd ex) whose only ambition is to fill their pockets with ill gotten gains with the real future of POP left to the FUTURE.
"revamped hotels at Playa Dorada " NAME ME ONE?????
"Puerto Plata and North Coast tourism sector representatives " QUIEN????

one way that just might get tourists back to the pop area is

stop robbing and killing them, stop treating them as "prey"
i live in this area for many years.
stop the tour buses from taking them to the amber museum in town, no one wants to go on vacation and vist this s.... house.
. they did clean up the malecon which is a good thing and in the long beach area they closed up the few bars and hang outs that where owned by outsiders. total eye sore they where {the taxi drivers also should calm down with the prices for the gringos} and the idiots that work in the major hotels should not be telling the tourists that its not safe to travel in the city of puerto plata. man they run and dont come back when the locals tell them that.

The Central Park - trees cut, and all paved. It's hot and looks ridiculous. The old Victorian houses are falling in. The Puerto Plata big shots only care about money, not this once beautiful town.
