Should prove very popular. Samana is a superb up-market destination. Many other US cities will follow with connections to Samana. There are fine hotels and a wide variety of villas to rent.
JetBlue has ordered the new A320neo - deliveries about 2016. This will reduce fuel cost.

The airport is not Nagua, but El Catey where the super highway from the city ends and travel time to SDQ is reduced to 1 1/2 hours on the toll road. (Toll less than US$20 one way).
From El Catey to the town of Samana is about 45 minutes. But from El Catey to Portillo or Las Terrenas, where the action is, using the new highway is another 35-40 minutes or so.

Excellent news. Josean and the Doom and Gloom crowd might not appreciate the news, but when do they ever look at the positive side of the news?

This is great but I fear that in a few years that Samana will become another Santo Domingo, no more peace and quiet.

Scott from El Catey to Las Terrenas is just 25 minutes and the airport is not in Nagua. They advertise Samana when actully the people go to Las Terrenas.

It is a wonderful little airport and yes it is in a very curious position being neither close to Nagua , nor to las Terrenas ..I am surprised if more than 5 planes land there at present on any day but it does show the wisdom of the new highway both to las Americas and to Samana ..as well as the new road to Las Terrenas .
Regarding las Terrenas I was reading that maybe the restaurants on the beach that were burnt down , will not be replaced .

Beautiful areas around the Samana peninsula.!
Now if LT could just get rid of the European pedophiles; et. al.
Too much Euro-trash there for years, some really trashy bottom feeders.
One day it could be great. I hope so.
Maybe the Bermudez family will decide when.

I have been on Samama lately, actually i was in las galerasand the kind of investment i saw on the way over there is massive, if they just could get the MAFIA that steals the land and the corruption on the Courts it will be EVEN BETTER

Generoso is more like $10.00 US. I used that highway 2 month ago, the first toll is $50.00 pesos, the second is $150.00 pesos, and the third is 161.00 pesos.

The market for property in Samana will be extensive as New Yorkers seek a pied a terre or estate in that region.
A studio in NY can easily cost $500,000.
A one bedroom in a prestige building in excess of $2,000,000.
