Las Terrenas, Dominican Republic.- A group of people supported by Las Terrenas’ mayor last week the destroyed pylons installed to keep vehicles from entering Playa Bonita, and enforce a Tourism Ministry resolution as a public recreation area.

"It’s the 3rd time such action takes place because the Las Terrenas mayor alleges not being aware of the Tourism Ministry’s resolution in effect," the Punta Bonita HOA said in a statement.

It said the Bonita Beach moto-taxis association had agreed to support the measure and keep vehicles off the beach and set the area aside for public use.

The HOA added that traffic was detoured away from the beach to allow visitors access to businesses, while a parking area was also designated for those who come in vehicles to enjoy the famous coastline.
