Santo Domingo.- The Las Americas Airport (AILA) was remodeled at a cost of RD$1.0 billion (US$24.9 million) by Aerodom, company which manages most of the country’s terminals, and includes new equipment, a makeover of if façade, refurbished passenger screening area, remodeling and expansion of the centralized immigration areas.
President Leonel Fernandez headed the inaugural that includes more spaces rearranged for stores and passenger services, the new South Terminal, arrivals and customs.
In his keynote speech Aerodom Board chairman Juan Carlos Torres said his company in July 2010 submitted their intention to build infrastructure to the Airport Commission, in addition to the projects undertaken since their concession began, known as Complementary projects.
"It was based, in regard to Las Americas Airport International, on optimizing space, improve the operation of passenger flows and modernize the image, incorporating elements of national identity, while ensuring safety and quality of the services provided."
Torres added that Aerodom is currently expanding and remodeling the international airports in Puerto Plata, and the freight terminal at Las Americas.

Great! One of the first impressions a foreigner gets is how modern and easy to navigate an airport is...Hopefully they improved bathrooms and now provide plenty of water for flushing. Last time I visited, It stunk to heaven!

when u leave this beautiful airport and they rob u of your money and goods and maybe your life then at least before this happens u have a good few minutes at the airport.

come bring your wife and kids come for a vacation or move here its beautiful over here.
if u buy one home u will get your tittle on the spot once u hand over your dollars u get this piece of paper we call the dominican title,
after this u can send your kids to our great publix schools where the government gives each kid 3 or 4 pieces of salami for lunch and its free for kids under 12y old. if u have any problems when living here please call 911 and u will have 2-3 police cars respond within minutes to help u with your problem. but worry about all the bars around every home or business u see in the dr its not really that bad the crime wave we have over here. here u live in peace {hope u like to listen to very loud music all night long}.

If you had traveled frequently to DR in the 70s, 80s and 90s; you will notice the service and professionalism of the staff as well as the “cosmetic” of the infrastructure has improved significantly in the past decade. Let’s be fair (no blind, political, passionate, bull shit).
First and foremost, the privatization of the terminal had made a great difference. A few years ago the LA was run by incompetent, arrogant, corrupt civilians and military (mulas en uniforme) whose only objective was to bribe (picoteo” ) our hard working folks.

I pity poor Danny,his hatred for DR like many of those who practically live in DT only to spread negativity demonstrates he is a total lowlife with no life and a deep seated grudge against the nation and its people .He cannot stand even small steps in the right direction from the nation. I don't know if he is just another Haitian or and AfroNazi or simply someone who lost a boyfriend to a Dominican ,but his hatred runs very deep .
Sadly for him we will continue to try improving the country and he will suffer every step of the way for the rest of his miserable existence...

The "GLOBE TROTTER" is another of the few in this forum with nothing much to do in life but birch and complain about life in general...And who can blame him!!??
The poor fellow is a dejected foreigner with mental, emotional issues and serious personality disorders. I pity him but , more so, the ones at the local asylum in Key West, that have to administer daily medication and occasional shock treatments just to keep him in line....Pobrecito!
