Santo Domingo.- President Danilo Medina’s decision to support his economic program by boosting tourism and adopting public policies that spur its growth places it at its "best moment" in government relations, said the new president of the hotels and tourism businesses grouped in ASONAHORES.

Luis Emilio Rodriguez said the government’s support for the industry puts "the tourism sector at its best possible scenario, with a pro-tourism President, with a quantitative target set by the President and a Tourism Minister who has been consistent in his policy of cooperation with the private sector."

The business leader, speaking at a cocktail to present the the ASONAHORES executive committee, said for the first time, the country has a president who’s placed tourism as one of the pillars of his project. "For the first time the government sets a quantitative target for tourism and acknowledges the industry as the economy’s "locomotive."

Ahhh, yes! "Hoteliers cheer the President’s decision to boost tourism", but of course. The hoteliers were part of the culprits who ruined the tourism industry in the first place, with their stupid and backward hotel policies, the mediocre food, the lack of value in vacation packages, the lack of training and paying a good salary for good employees and now, the government is going to spend the Dominicans money so the hoteliers can reap the benefits. Well, who wouldn't be happy about that. Let the hoteliers spend their own money since they are the one who are going to benefit the most and let the government spend money on roads, better schools, hospitals, garbage pickup, the supply of electricity, crime fighting and its prevention, that's the real role of the government and not to subsidized the hotel owners and resorts.
