Port-au-Prince.– With the Best Western Premier hotel currently under construction in
Haiti’s Petion-Ville, the neighboring country will have 1,000 hotel rooms by the end of
2012, said Ulrich Emmanuel Noel, director of investments at Haiti’s
Ministry of Tourism.
The four-star hotel project, which will be the first Best Western
Premier in the Caribbean, will include six stories and 106 rooms, along
with a 150-seat restaurant. It is being built to withstand earthquakes
of up to nine on the Richter scale.
Haiti Tourism Minister Stephanie Villedrouin visited the hotel this
weekend to oversee construction. Petion-Ville is the center of a boom of hotel construction
in Haiti, with the new Royal Oasis hotel set to open in December.

Let's do the numbers now:
2 million illegals Haitians in DR divided by four to a one house equals the need for 500,000 homes or two to a hotel room=1,000,000 hotel rooms, IF they could afford them.
The DR is NOT the solution to Haitian problems, at this "hotel growth rate" Haiti will add the equivalent of our 80,000 hotel rooms in 80 years! or by the year 2092, just in time for the 22 ND century.
By that time the UN will still be in Haiti, and they will move their permanent headquarters from NY to save money, to PAP.

Not a nice panorama to envision.
Border must be closed shut for Haitian illegals.
Repatriation of unemployed or Haitians w/o documents must begin immediately.
DR public hospitals and educational facilities should only provide their services for DR nationals, with the exception of emergency hospital care.
Those who employ illegal Haitians should receive an immediate fine of $10,000 pesos per each illegal Haitian for first offense. RD$25,000 pesos each for second offense. RD$100,000 each and three years in prison for third offense.
No penalties and the illegal flow will continue unimpeded.

@Roystone,“If Dominicans stop employing Haitians, who's going to do all the dirty or hard work for shit money? Certainly not Dominicans!”(Roystone). I have to say well said! I must add that the Dominicans will certainly see a decrease in their economy once all the Haitians leave their country because they will not have Haitians or their native people “Dominicans” working on their field. I do want all the Haitians to leave and do what they have learned from next door and put it in their native country. In addition, the Haitian’s government will see an increase in their economy, and the DR will see a decrease. The Dominicans will reap what they sow!

Visual, I too want all the haitians to apply what they learned in DR on their side, however they first need to plant millions and millions of trees and wait for them to grow, feeding their families with dirt cookies while they wait (no big deal), then and only then they could start thinking about rebuilding a country. And don't worry about what would happen in the DR side, the Vicinis and Fanjuls will just have to buy more machinery for their cane fields and keep less profits (like pulling a stripe from a zebra, trust me they'll be just fine). The developers will just have to pay more money to Dominicans, just like a few years ago then sell at a higher price or again, keep less profits. If that's the price we have to pay to rid ourselves of this heavy load, Where Do We Have to Sign ? Once you are all back and the border is sealed, be quiet before we build a big dam on our side of your main water supply "The Artibonito River" which flows into Haiti from the mountains of the DR.

Sex tourism thrives on Dominican streets with Haitian girls
Gerardo Reyes and Pedro Portal | Miami Herald
BOCA CHICA, Dominican Republic — Daniela leans on the bar of La Criolla, one of the most popular nightclubs on Avenida Duarte. She arrived here in April after paying a trafficker $70 to get her out of Haiti — nearly four months after a deadly earthquake devastated her homeland.
She says she is 18 years old and has sex with tourists for money. But her two friends scoff, telling reporters that she's no older than 16.

She and her girlfriends are part of the local tourism industry that thrives on sex and exploitation, brazenly in the open and despite claims from the government that it has intensified prosecutions and sanctions against smugglers.
The girls here offer themselves on the streets, beaches and waist-deep water. Some girls walk up to restaurant patrons and reach for their crotches. Other girls flash tourists from the back of motorcycles while the drivers slow to a crawl or stop to describe their physical attributes or sexual talents.
