PUNTA CANA, Dominican Republic.- President Danilo Medina Thursday morning headed the groundbreaking for the "Extreme Park Punta Cana," to be built at a cost of US$180.0 million.
Considered the biggest of its type in Latin America, the facility will include four main business areas, indoor and outdoor attractions, amphitheater, disco, and many other tcomplementary services.
Extreme Park Group president Salvador Ballesteros pledged to help Medina bring 10 million tourists to the country per year, as promised during his race for the Palace.
Slated for inaugural in 2014, the project covers an area of more than one million square meters and Ballestero said it will create over 560 direct jobs.
He said the park will have the highest safety standards for such infrastructure.

During the activity tourism business leaders and Tourism minister Francisco Javier Garcia hailed the project’s importance, noting that it will complement all foreign investments ??in this regopm and in other parts of the country.

Ever build a house and the first thing you did was build the roof?
That is what is happening here. A roof needs support..as does a mega business venture....or any venture to be honest.
Our education MUST be dramatically improved....immediately if any of this is to come true. At this time resorts and business (foreign) are having a very difficult time in filling the spaces currently available with people who have an education. Very few have any language skills...one of the MOST IMPORTANT for someone entering this trade.
What was the other project going into Cabeza del Toro??? I think it was endorsed by a prince. That was about 4 years ago. What stage are they at now???

It amazes me how people instead of working to develop from the benefits the goverment put a their service with the construction of the Autovia del Coral, they rather sit on their a-zzes to complain and "vitch" around like chea-p H-o's!
I'm not calling anyone names, but, people, any idea, any effort of a project is good from day one. Even yesterday's event (primer picazo) generated some kind of job/revenues for some people, rich and poor!
In every interview of the biggest captains of industry, they say their key to success is.........PERSEVERANCE! Don't believe it, go ask Abraham Lincoln, Pepin Corripio Ignacio Lula de Silva, and our own Danilo Medina.... SUCCESS after so many, many, many tries!

The problem with these projects is they generate incomes for the investors (sometimes) and there's very little benefits to the surrounding communities and even less to the national population!
Yet the national taxpayers are the ones who paid for the infrastructure and all the related long term service cost.
Not unlike the METRO where ALL pay and very few benefit!

With the completion of the Romana Bulevar in March/April 2013, driving time from Santo Domingo to Punta Cana will be reduced to one hour twenty minutes from the current 1 hr 50 mins to 2 hrs. Just that will open the entire Santo Domingo area market $$$ (Papi y Mami) to this amusement park. Heck, from Long Island to Six Flags is a 2 to 3 hours drive.
The tourist, that just the icing on the cake!

No, no job at no realty, just another concerned investor in the PC area. It amazes me how people instead of working to develop from the benefits the goverment put a their service with the construction of the Autovia del Coral, they rather sit on their a-zzes to complain and "vitch" around like chea-p H-o's!

The problem with these projects is they generate incomes for the investors (sometimes) and there's very little benefits to the surrounding communities and even less to the national population!
Yet the national taxpayers are the ones who paid for the infrastructure and all the related long term service cost.
