Santo Domingo.- The Connecticut Airport Authority says a new charter service begins Saturday from Bradley International Airport to Punta Cana, Dominican Republic, CBSLocal.com reports.

“Airport Authority Executive Director Kevin Dillon says the weekly flights will operate Saturdays in February and March,” the outlet said, adding that a 150-seat Airbus 320 aircraft will be used for the flights,  which will operate as Frontier Flight 8548 and 8549 to and from the Dominican Republic.

The announcement comes one week after American Airlines announced it will discontinue some direct flights from the U.S.

Excellent news, New England and particularly Hartford should be please to get out of the winter cold.

As for DR, Hartford and surrounding areas are a good source of revenue.

En hora buena Frontier, best wishes in your endeavor, let's hope you can expand soon to
Puerto Plata, Santiago and Santo Domingo.

The people at Apple Vacations chartered the plane and all 175 persons on board will be tourist. Great for the economy. Understand Apple has 56 charter flight a week to Punta Cana.
