D. Medina in a hug with Juan Jose -Pepe- Hidalgo.
BOCA CHICA, Dominican Republic.- The remodeled hotel Be Live Hamaca, of the Globalia Group, was re-inaugurated yesterday in the icon resort town, in a ceremony headed by president Danilo Medina and Spanish mogul Juan Jose (Pepe) Hidalgo, president of the chain.
Globalia executives said the Group’s investments in the Dominican Republic top US$500 million and account for more than 3,000 jobs.
In the keynote speech, Hidalgo stressed the importance of Spanish investments for the country, among the first major inflows since the start of the tourism boom in the mid 1980s.
The Hamaca was originaly built by the regime of the dictator Rafael Trujillo.

wow This hotel has been through quite a few hands and was very worn out ..I remember when it was the Hilton Hamaca and locals could book a days fun there very cheaply ,,The beach and the water in front is very clean but heavily protected by armed guards , Nice fish restaurant next door also ,I hope the main street cannow be revitalised as well .

i like this guy Danilo. i make no bones about it. but jeezus , man, time to get into a new mindset, and stop with the paternalism! why does he have to continue that miserable, anachronistic tradition of cutting the ribbon to everything,as if he is the paterfamilias for the Dominican population? how come i don't see Barack Obama cutting the ribbon at the opening of every pizza shop in the USA?

The Drug money has to go somewhere! Spanish moguls with Russian partners add up to cash dumping. Go to 'Tripadvisor' and check out what real people (guests) of the Hamaca are saying about their stay there.

Boca Chica shows itself to be a predatory dump. After taking my friend there a year and a half ago, I tell everybody I know that this is a place to be avoided, unless you want to spend every second of your visit with some panhandler or scammer following you down the street in trying to crawl up your crevice. A terrible example of what the DR offers to tourists. Just drive a little bit further to Juan Dolio.

Boca Chica? More like Boca Sucia!
The resort does seem convenient. Hopefully it gets better reviews now if they've also invested in improving services and not just it's structure. On the other hand the town will never get good reviews, it is disgusting and you'll get aids just from walking through it. The prostitutes will fondle your dick and the mosquitoes will devour your before you make it back to your hotel. I was there six months ago and I was traumatized by the experience. Hopefully Medina can continue improving this town or just cut his losses and move on to Juan Dolio, which has a lot more potential.

I previously stayed at this Hotel, I think it was 2008 or 09. I was with my wife! This is my experience. Swimming under the water, then coming up for air and low and behold many huge excrement floating in the water like big sausages. I saw many HATIAN's bathing in the water, out to the left side. Many prostitutes and delinquents! You know the type that try to get you to the room for sex then call the delinquent to come and rob you! towards the end of my stay there my eye started to itch me and seemed to be blurry at times. When I got back to New York City I had to go to Doctor after Doctor and then to Eye Specialists on 72nd street only to find out that I had the worst form of conjuctivitis in the eye. I went through over 90 days of treatment. At one point I couldnt hardly see at all. According to my Eye Doctor Specialist, my eye is scared for life. Dominicans know the water is polluted there. Stay Away

Funny how the Spaniards don't have jobs in their own country and this Gallego is spending 500 million in another country and providing jobs for other people. It never fails to amaze me. I don't think that the jobless Spaniards are going to me as happy as those two in the picture.

Presidente, he has to do this because they cannot spend the money in Spain.
