Madrid.– The Dominican Republic was awarded as one of the countries with the best stands at the International Tourism Fair FITUR 2013, an award that recognizes the efforts of companies and institutions involved in its 33rd edition, which runs through Feb. 3 at Feria de Madrid.

The stand, sponsored by the Ministry of Tourism, was selected by its professionalism, design, originality and innovation.

The Dominican Republic will receive the award for its impacting presence during Fitur, where all attendees were invited to live different types of tourism experiences and an artistic display was put together to capture the attention of all visitors.

danny00-

That double ZERO after you name compliments you well.

Tell me Dan what do you gain by pointing out flaws in others? I believe the problem is with you, and not with the DR. It appears as if you are still working hard to fight off the demons within.

You suffer from a strong sense of inadequacy and to feel better about yourself love to put others down. People like youself simply use this medium as an excuse to fill in a void. Anyone who doesn't have a strong sense of themselves and of right from wrong is susceptible to make illogical and unreasonable assumptions in others. Those who are sensible could see how unbalanced your beliefs and accusations can be, but choose to look beyond that and focus on the positives rather then to constantly dwell on the negatives.

Nevetheless, before you point one finger at the DR, realize three remaining fingers are pointing straight back at you. As with regards to your thumb, just stick it right up your anus.

Guillermone, Danilo and Rokete.

All good intelligent, and subject related posts. Guillermone: Ride on! But please don't lower yourself to his level by using profanity. Everyone should control their use of your language when responding to another's post. It only lowers you to their mentality. We have enough of them.

It is refreshing to see complimentary comments from Danilo and Rokete. I hope we see more in the near future from you and others alike. Starting like tomorrow.

Ciao

my first question too Mike.. if it was sooo Dominican why no names for the designers???

"types of tourism experiences and an artistic display was put together to capture the attention of all visitors."
Now all we need to do is to live up to what the stand promises....

stillhere.

Over 28 years in the hospitality industry and attending hundreds of "industry" meetings, many with exhibits, NEVER, not one time has the designer get mentioned. Further, have not heard one designer complain. If someone inquires about who designed the booth, the booth operator will gladly provide their name. Mentioning designers? It just isn't done.

But you missed the point that it is the stand that got the award..

"the best stands at the International Tourism Fair"

"The stand, sponsored by the Ministry of Tourism, was selected by its , design, originality and innovation."
Not the product being sold/advertised.....

So would it not be logical to name the person/company that designed it? and as it was "sponsored by the Ministry of Tourism" would it also not warrant a note of whom ran the stand for their professionalism?
Why is it the group handing over the cheque get the accolades.
I have worked in design, film and TV, photography.. and not once have I ever seen the producer get the award for production design/set decoration/art direction/costume design or even direction... "It just isn't done."
Or is it just the way it's done to not even have a thank you from the Ministry of Tourism??

It would not be unreasonable to think the design and construction of the stand was contracted out to a European based advertising and marketing enterprise. Of course there would be input from the Dominican side

I suggest the costs involved to do same in house in the RD may be lower as far as labor. However, the indirect costs of packaging, transportation, insurance, and customs clearance of the display would bring the total value of the presentation above that of one fabricated in Europe.

Stillhere.

I do get the point. The finished product (booth) is what the "owner" of the booth directed the designer to do. It is not the designer brainchild. He built what the owner told him to build. Awards are given usually, for the creativity, etc., of the booth The awards are for the booths, not the operators. But the award is received and put on the wall, of the owner of the booth. They own the booth.

Lastly, in the USA, I have had dozens of booths built from different companies. Unless the booths are for a one-time use ONLY, the booths will be shipped to the next exhibit or stored. Every situation is different. Significant crating for these booths, have, on occassion, exceed the cost of the booth. Then they get shipped "freight" and usually are destroyed after 2 or 3 shipments. The major costs are just as zooma has said. Overall costs must be considered as to where and who should design/build/ship the booth.
