This development has been in the mixing pot for many years ,,even before the old hotel had aaaa large outbreak of food poisoning and then a fire and was closed down ,,The golf course and the entire area from Rio san Juan to Nagua and up in the hills is a glorious part of the world but until recently has suffered from lack of decent roads and medical care and an appalling record of petty larceny ..It also rains too often there ,,but the Hotel la Catelina in the foothills is a gem .
I really hope the development succeeds especially the ability to get a good supply of water onto the course

I am sure I read this same report several weeks ago!

Yes it is a lovely part of the country and hopefully this development will improve employment prospects during the construction and when completed. I live in Cabrera and crime here is very low and certainly nothing serious (domestics apart). The only negative seems to be access by the public to Playa Grande beach which has been a topic on a number of forums and posts. The new public car park is very small and will quickly be filled up at busy times of the year and week-ends. One can only hope this does not end up the same as at other beaches where once expensive villas are constructed public access will cease with guards denying access.

jasaflon this has been a development that has been through all planning etc for many years and most of it has been wired off with very ugly netting so nothing is being lost here ,,,if it is all done according to plan then it will be very good for the towns of Cabrera and Rio san Juan ,,the plan I saw was not anything huge
Adrian the areas that had much thieving was through Cabrera and the houses around la Ctelina and between the main road and the beach ..hopefully it has finished but as you know there is no gated community just there .

Ricardolito

"... if it is all done according to plan..."

This is the problem. This is RD, where NOTHING goes according to plan.
And the result is always that Dominican locals get screwed.
All they usually get anyways are low paying jobs servicing people visiting their country
And I have known all about Boykin's project.

Does the Duminican government do anything without making it a publicity stunt for the ruling party?
