Apparently, this is a fun thing and a good magnet for visitors to come see.
Hopefully it'll grow in size and intensity, and a yearly attraction for those that can't make it to Rio.

Next time around, perhaps we can invite the entire Caribbean nations to show their stuff! The participating nation with the best costumes, music, and style, will win the coveted "Caribbean Queen" trophy, plus $50,000US, for their school system, plus all the beer they can drink!.. (AFTER the parade)!

I nominate Mr. Dreadlocks and Mr. Atabey, as principal judges.

Why not just put the $50,000 into the Dominican school system? We are not exactly setting the world on fire with our level of education.

Because this is money that will encourage and motivate many more nations to participate!
In any case, the increased number of visitors lodged at the sponsoring hotels, will more than make up for the pricemoney given and will further advertize Punta Cana as a fun destination.

This will be an event held during the slow season to entice people to fill up hotel rooms that otherwise may remain empty. Some visitors may even want to venture outside all-inclusive and trek over to SD.! . Besides, this seemingly charitable Funfest, is good PR for everyone involved!
