Punta Cana.– After registering a 10% increase in the annual movement of passengers, the Punta Cana Airport is planning to build a fourth terminal, even though no date has been set for opening.

According to Puntacana Group President and CEO, Frank Rainieri, the airport is the ninth largest in passenger volume in the Caribbean and Latin America, handling five million passengers in 2013.

More than 60 percent of all travelers flying to the Dominican Republic arrive via Punta Cana.

The reason for the additional terminal is to accomodate the large capacity aircraft and facilitate processing of passengers they transport.

More/bigger terminal= more visitors,= more jobs,= more money being spent by tourists and those newly employed,= more commerce,= bigger economy,= more $$ going into the govt's coffers,= more infrastructure,= more jobs,------ad infinitum.

In another post we commented that we have a couple of the engineers working a PC International Airport as guests at HPC. Now looks like we'll be getting some more; no wonder they asked for daily price for over 30 days....

Then following that, Blue Mall will be!

All and only thanks to LEONEL's vision, Danilo for continuing it, and the PLD for supporting it!

JHCL. One thing I don't understand is why you'd want Leonel back in, when Danilo is doing a much, much better job than he.!??

Please explain why you think things will ever be any better than his last stab at the presidency.?
Do you honestly think Mr. Leo is capable of helming our nation into the winds of progress, when clearly, he did a miserable job, plundered the state, and couldn't care less for the poor and their right at a decent education.??

The only reason that explains it, is that you had a job with Leo, and now want it back. Verdad.?

With no Leonel there is no Danilo. During the last Presidential campaign I said it all the time, Danilo's job will be much easier since Leonel did the heavy lifting in preparing and starting the big item infraestructure projects.

By the time Danilo was in charge, the path to "desarrollo y progreso" was already laid.... Danilo just need to continue it, and to his credit, he is (Metro, highway, power plants, incentives for private investments, etc...).

Por eso y mas que nunca, eh pa'lante que vamos!

Wait...if the country receives 4.8 million tourist arrivals....how can punta cana receive 5 million? The word is that PC recieves approx 2.8 million arrivals. So....2.2 million residents travel through PC?

roketa, no need to repeat the same thing.........people are not listening...........

What they are doing is noticing you don't sound the same, are posting less, are not around that often and don't sound as fanatical as before.........you don't sound with that hatred you "voiced" against Haitian, "Haitian" Papaupa, El pipi, etc.

You sound like a beaten man.

Why the change, did someone beat you to a pulp or something?.

Tell me and I'll defend you.

Do tell.

A barely used Spanish airport that cost some 1.1 billion euros (£900 million) to build and became a symbol of the country's wasteful spending ahead of an economic downturn has gone on sale for a minimum price of 100 million euros.....Huess u guys are a couple steps ahead of your friends in Spain.....see I knew u guys are good business people the best in the Carribean... The millions if Tourists are coming and I guess I was wrong.... But tell me what your going to do when 10 million of Garica's Chinese Tourists all get Food Poisoning.....Tootsie Baby....Ha Ha Ha

I recently stayed at one of the five RUI resorts in Punta Cana, Domincan Republic where guests had access to all of the properties. I picked up a norovirus or food poisoning along with two of my traveling companions, two of which were hospitalized. Our trip was miserable. I cannot pinpoint exactly what we ate that triggered the sickness as we were eating at the restaurants that required reservations, the daily buffets and the restaurants near the beach. I know one thing for sure - I will never go back! See what's a over the Internet lady's ... Guess they ate the Dominican Caca Salami. X

On Wednesday we started noticiing changes occurring at the resort. All ice machines, soft drink and water dispensers were "out of service". Hand sanitizers were in evidence at all the eating venues. Food handlers were donning gloves. The handles on the trollerys were being sanitized by the drivers. Being curious we approached management for an explanation. We were told that a CANADIAN VIRUS, which is dormant in cold weather, is triggered or becomes activated in hotter climates. REALLY!!! Could it be the food handling practices???? One hotel guest observed a staff member using the same tong utensil to transfer raw meat and then cooked meat to and from a grill.Yhey are blaming the Foid Poisoning on the Canadians, Really! Ha Ha Ha maybe it's the CIA?... Lol maybe it's the worker that takes a piss in the wind and doesn't wash his hands

If you hate it so much, and liable to be exposed to deceases, violent crime, etc. why come spend your money here, and bring friends along, to boot.!?

Why not go and spend your imaginary vacation, with imaginary money with your imaginary friends, somewhere else.?

Why not help out your native country, Haiti.? Go there instead, and avoid all the terrible environs of DR. But keep posting anyway. Your campaign of misinformation won't affect us. We Dominicans will keep on prospering while your Haiti will keep on sinking.

""Leonel did the heavy lifting in preparing and starting the big item infraestructure projects.""----JHCL

Granted. Leo, for reasons of his own, wanted to convert SD into a "mini Nueva Yol", and started, as it turned out, a very good thing, in building the Metro.

But there's a huge difference in Leo's and Medina's approach to government. Leo's was one of, what some would call, "extraction"; Medina's in one of "inclusion". The former, perpetuated the mindset of enrichment at the expense of the poor. The latter (so far), is trying to benefit the vast majority of our people by education, small loans for business ventures, technical support, etc.
This approach, while not as sensational or grandiose as great infrastructure projects, is the foundation from which a nation can build an economy that will eventually succeed and gain momentum.
If Danilo stays the course, no doubt we may double, or even triple our economy where we benefit big time, not just the rich, ALL of us.

PUJ airport is a private commercial airport, the brainchild of Frank Rainieri and his fellow founder Ted Kheel, later joined by investors Oscar de la Renta and Julio Iglesias, all forming Grupo Punta Cana. Rainieri is CEO. Ted Kheel passed away in 2006.

No political party or political leader can claim responsibily of its creation, had any strong influence or initiative to cultivate this airport. Government investment is to show up and smile at ribbon cutting ceremonies; do the rubber stamping and granting permits for a sure tax revenue generator for the government; and provide government employees for air traffic control, customs and policing.

This airport is a good example of a privately run airport facility vs that government owned and operated.
