Santo Domingo.- Tourism minister Francisco Javier García on Monday announced the start of construction for the Maimon-Luperón-Puerto Plata road, on the country’s Atlantic coast.

He said the road will make it easier for passengers arriving aboard cruise ships to tour Puerto Plata, when he terminal now being built by Carnival Corporation starts operations.

He said he expects construction for the Luperón-Montecristi road will also start before the current term in office ends in August 2016, which he calls a corridor to the next tourism destination.

"The Maimon-Luperón Highway links these two large bays, but the Luperón-Montecristi coastal road would create a corridor to the new tourism destination which I call Riviera of the Atlantic."

The title states that the highway boosts tourism.

That is not correct since the highway has not been buit yet.

Come on you chicas at DT straighten out your English.

Another boost for our economy. Not only potential tourism, but a link to Montecristi's mega seaport, now being built. This new road will facilitate transit from the Cibao region for quick export to US, Can. and the EU.
