Dominican airline awaits green light for US flights

Santo Domingo.- Pawa Dominicanaairline awaits the US Transportation Dept.´s (DOT) authorization to fly in thatcountry, with routes to New York, Miami and San Juan, as part of the carrier´sfirst stage of operations.

Pawa corporateaffairs director Alexander Barrios acknowledged that the three routes accountfor the most passengers, for Dominican and Caribbean destinations as well.

He said Pawa plans twice-weeklyflights to Havana and Antigua & Barbuda starting November. Those routeswill make Pawa the only airline operating in the country to have fivedestinations, when it adds Curacao, Saint Maarten and Aruba.

Antigua flights startNov. 22, while those to Havana are set for November 30, Barrios said, quoted by local media.
