Can’t decide? Here a 10 must-see sites

Santo Domingo.- Just in time for the annual Easter Week exodus by Dominicans hungry for a great beach, a cool mountain or a frolicking river, newspaper Diario Libre asked 30 people in the tourism sector to name their choice as the country’s 10 best destinations for locals to visit.

From the more than 25 most popular destinations suggested, the 10 finalists n alphabetical order:

1. The 27 ponds “27 Charcos de Damajagua,” in Puerto Plata.

2. The unchallenged natural beauty of Bahía de las Aguilas, Pedernales.

3. The Taino petroglyphs in the caves at Hoyo de Sanabe, Sánchez Ramírez.

4. The islet Isla Saona, La Altagracia, isolated enchantment.

5. Lago Enriquillo, Independencia, vast and mysterious.

6. The fusión of river and beach at Playa Rincón, Samaná.

7. Thunderous water falls of Salto de Jimenoa, Jarabacoa.

8. Humpback whales reign at Santuario de Mamíferos Marinos, Samaná.

9. The Atlantic panorama from the cable car, Teleférico de Puerto Plata (Loma Isabel de Torres).

10 . The year-round cool at Valle Nuevo, Constanza
