La Romana-Bayahibe beaches hoist the Blue Flag

La Romana, Dominican Republic – The LaRomana-Bayahibe Hotel Association on Monday announced the official hoisting ofthe Blue Flag in all area hotels already certified, for the 2016-2017 period.

Association director Ana García-Sotoca saidthe hotels Catalonia Gran Dominicus, Iberostar Hacienda Dominicus, Viva WyndhamDominicus Beach Hotels, Viva Wyndham Dominicus Palace, Casa de Campo Resort (first-timecertified) have the international distinction.

She said the destination’s main beaches(Dominicus, Bayahibe and Minitas) are allnow certified, noting that Dominicus was the first beach to obtain the BlueFlag in the Americas 13 years ago.

Quoted by acento.com.do, García-Sotoca addedthat the Blue Flag is bestowed annually by the Institute of Environmental Lawof the Dominican Republic (IDARD), after having complied with the requirements ofthe Foundation for Environmental Education (FEE), based on water quality,environmental management, safety and services, and environmental education andinformation.
