Delta vacations sweetens Dominican Republic offers as demand grows

PRNewswire.– Delta Vacations, one of the biggest touroperators for United States and Canada, announced expanded offeringsfor Dominican Republic based on double-digit growth in 2015.

While the largest rate of increase was in Punta Cana,the travel giant experienced significant growth in Santo Domingo, withroom demands up 50 percent from what they were the previous year. The companyhas witnessed an uptick in demand for rooms in Samaná and La Romana as well.

This growth has positioned Delta Vacations to expandofferings and explore new opportunities in the country. One big example of thisis the expansion into Puerto Plata in January 2016. While thecurrent flights are being serviced through Santiago (STI), DeltaVacations has already established relationships with AMResorts, Iberostar CostaDorada, Sunscape Puerto Plata, Riu Bachata and Riu Merengue – a wide-range ofproperties in the area – and is looking to continue to grow this portfolio.

As for other areas of growth, Delta Vacations has added tennew properties to its Punta Cana offerings, two new properties in thecapital city – JW Marriott Hotel Santo Domingo and the Sheraton Santo Domingo –and the Luxury Bahia Principe Don Pablo Collection in the Samaná peninsula.

Dominican Republic’s tourism numbers are tracking at amedian growth of 5.1 percent over the last 5 years, with numbers from the firstquarter of 2016 looking to surpass last year’s arrivals. DominicanRepublic boasts eight international airports throughout the country, eachpositioned in a key travel region to ensure convenience of travel, andcurrently welcomes flights from 26 countries and counting.
