CARACAS.- Twenty-eight candidates registered to compete in the presidential elections, declared the Electoral Board president, Tibisay Lucena.

Lucena expressed, in press conference, that "28 candidates" registered between the 5th and 24th of this month, seven are women.

All those registered fulfilled the legal requirements, thus the 28 will be running for president in the December 3rd elections against President Hugo Chávez that, is candidate for re-election.

Some recent survey favors Chávez with a support greater than 50%, whereas the rest of the candidates are located very much below that margin.

With so many opposing Chavez's candidacy, he is bound to be a "shoo-in" because ofthe dilution of constituent voting.
That's exactly what he wants; plenty of opposition in the elective process so his followers have a clear majority.
United they stand, divided they fall.
