Santo Domingo.- A delegation of volunteers headed by New York Councilman Robert Jackson and representatives of the United States Staples Corporation will be visiting the country in August, with materials and equipment for the school in Paraíso de Dios.

Councilman Jackson headed the humanitarian delegation that visited in March, bringing pre-natal supplements to help pregnant women in the area, which is located in Haina municipality, and according to a United Nations report is the third most polluted place in the world.

The “Nutrition for Life” program was set up four years ago and keeps on expanding. The program has helped over 18,000 pregnant women to date.

Councilman Jackson is the president of the New York City Council’s Education Committee and has been a very active member of the Nutrition for Life program since it was set up. He said, “I’m going to Haina to help these kids get a better education”.
