Voodoo is not just in Haiti, but in numerous other Caribbean Islands with its' roots going back to Africa. It is heavily practiced in South Florida (due to Haitian and Jamacian immigrants) but also with its' slave roots in New Orleans and South Louisiana, i.e. Marie Laveau. As with most news articles items the good side hardly ever sells, but mention the bad or dark side of an issue and the papers fly off the stand.

Haitians are catholic too. They practice both at a time: Voodoo and Catholicism. Haitians are very enlightened and very strong spiritually.

HAITIAN VOODOO PRIEST IS #1 IN THE WORLD: Max Beauvoir
Born in Port-au-Prince, Haiti. He graduated with a degree in chemistry from City College of New York 1959. He studied at the Sorbonne, France. By 1962, he obtained a graduate degree in biochemistry 1965, At Cornell Medical Center. He supervised a staff synthesizing metabolic steroids. Beauvoir joined an engineering Co. that had him set up shop in North Jersey, then a digital U.S. equipment Co. His interest in steroids brought him back to Haiti in January 1973 to experiment with hydrocortisone synthesized from plants. Beauvoir, one of the most respected voodoo priests in the world, enjoying celebrity, power, and great esteem. He is an Educated biochemist who has a hecogenin US patent in 1979. When Harvard anthropologist Wade Davis came to Haiti in 1982 to research what would become his acclaimed book on Haiti, voodoo, and zombies, and the movie "The Serpent and the Rainbow". Beauvoir has written several books on Voodoo.
