Kinshasa.-A humanitarian plane carrying 17 passengers and crew that went missing in Democratic Republic of Congo has crashed into a mountain and all aboard are feared dead, the flight contractor said on Tuesday.

A copy of the passenger manifest seen by Reuters showed that six foreigners were aboard, from France, India, Canada, Congo Republic, South Africa and Britain, the last two of them pilots. The remaining 11 passengers were listed in the manifest as citizens of Democratic Republic of Congo.

Rescue helicopters spotted the wreckage early on Tuesday of the 19-seat Beechcraft aircraft, contracted by Air Serv International, around 15 km (nine miles) northwest of the town of Bukavu, on Congo's eastern border with Rwanda.

if you take time to read the captions, there is one which says WORLD. i guess that the principals of the site believe that there are things happening in the world which might be of interest to people. what does Sarah Palin have to do with the DR?

World?

Ok. Then why the story of a relief plane crashing in Africa? Is that the most important news story in the World today? Is it even in the top 10?

As for Sara Palin...Even you would have to admit that The US presidential elections are of huge importance to the D.R.

the outcome may be important, but i can guarantee you that the stories have no import on this country. even you have to admit that!

Much more than some aid workers in Africa dying in a plane crash.

Hard to find a Dominican who doesn't have a family member in the US. The US is the DR's largest trading partner. The DR economy survives on remittance from the US.
Also there is a large Ex/Pat population in the DR. Maybe they are interested.

actually, anthonyc, my arrogance does not ascend to the levels wherein i decide what is of more importance to people. maybe people dying for a good cause does not mean much to you, but it does to others. and go ahead, keep trying to prove that the election run-up in america is of great importance to dominicans. you will not convince me, but then again....

you know, anthonyc, the more i read your idiocy, the more i realise what a troll you are. you are one foul excuse for a human being. a humanitarian effort ends in disaster and death of 17 people who made a supreme sacrifice to help less fortunate human beings, and you, a miserable , disdainful soul, tries to marginalise the situation by dismissively asking why DT bothered to air it. maybe they are human, which you, ostensibly, are not. but then again, maybe you do not comprehend the concept of sacrifice. check the dictionary, and read the definition. you can't say i have not attempted to enhance what little education you have!
