That means with women companionship included in the package. This has been going on for years. Anyway was the "big crime" in this puritan society anyway? Why don't they go after the big criminals and sex perverts, drug dealers, arms merchants, war mongers and white collar criminals that defraud the public of millions of dollars and arrest them?
This is like arresting someone for smoking a joint while the big don found with a truck full of dope sits in "witness protection" in a mecedora puffing an expensive cigar and enjoying life with his ill gotten moneys including his mistresses and all. What a double standard!

Hey dread i was just in dr is not getting any better, I dont know what it would take to change my poor country, i wish i knew.
From: United States
sadly, brootto, the country is in a dire state of malaise, and, as you say, it is not getting better. it is as if nobody cares about anything, except instant gratification. there is no long term vision for achievement, and the tone is set from above. as an example; there is a major offensive at present regarding the use of motorcycle helmets. cops are stopping motorcyclists, fining them, and confiscating their velocipedes. but everyone knows that this too shall pass. when the government has realised the projected income from fines, all will return to business as usual. that is one reason why dominicans have no respect for law and order; they see it as a strategy, not a necessity. in the USA, you get a ticket 365 days of the year for an offense; here, it depends on the month. how do you expect a country to get ahead with such a mentality?

brootto, i am sorry that you are disappointed, but glad also. that way, you will be careful about what you invest in. this country has serious potential. it has lots of minerals, beautiful scenery, great natural soil and vegetation, and is ideally located on a major trade route. but it is like a boxer who only has a good physique, but no boxing skills. the closer i get to understanding it, the more i realise how far it has to go. when i read on another site that college level students cannot spell cervesa, i wonder how that can be, and how did they get into college in the first place. the signs are not good, and we are falling behind at exponential speed, because the rest of the world is trying to get ahead, while we fumble. if you compare a service such as Western Union in the USA, and the same service here, you would believe you were on a different planet. sad, but true. and, for those who are unaware, the word is getting around the world that we have no electricity. that does

I am against sexploitation of minors, but I can not condone the right that adult women have to choose whatever form of making a living they so desire.
It is wrong for society to either condone, judge or prosecute them.
They have free will to choose and act accordingly, they could choose another career such as domestic services, or anything else but they choose prostitution.
We can not judge high up on a pedestal with plenty of self righteousness or consider them lesser
beings for having chosen by their free will this occupation.
No matter what prostitution always survives and flourishes even the most brutal state controlled dictatorships, like Cuba for example, the "revolution" can not control all the "jineteras" in Cuba and they don't even try any more. It's a matter of supply and demand.
It has always been with civilizations and will always be with us no matter what high moral grounds you stand on.
From: United States
professor G, do not mistake my post to be a scolding against prostitution. like you, i believe that it is nobody's business what a woman chooses to do. but pimping i despise. i find it a loathsome and crude way to make a living. you see, the word 'choice" is problematic, when used in this context. if Paris Hilton goes off whoring, is that the same "choice" as a girl with three mouths to feed, an absentee marido, and an impoverished family, who needs her help? when a schoolteacher chooses to carouse with her students, is that the same "choice" as a seventeen year old girl, who cannot spell "uno", going off to a cabana with a seventy year old pedophile? just askin, brother.

Thanks for the clarification, I also despise pimps and all the low lives that circle the profession, mooching off the blood and sweat of the poor working girls, doing nothing.
I remember in St.Maarten a bunch of poor Dominican working girls were in line at the airport crying, and being forced to leave by this huge brute. I inquired and they told me that they were being sent back by this animal that had used them and refuse to pay them all the money owed to them.
I can not describe my indignation and wrath that I felt for this "hoe master", there was little that I could do except try for them to make it to the plane unharmed.
All of them safely in the plane confessed that they were going to be returning ASAP to continue on their own their life of prostitution.
This is why all these laws against prostitution, abortion, and so forth what they do is bring in the criminal elements to benefit because of the illegal status of their profession or service rendered.

Look, prostitution exists everywhere, and in the DR, it is not gringos who are the primary customers. It is dominican men. It is also true that there is virtually no child support for young women who have children out of wedlock. If they choose to sell their bodies to gringos because they can get more money than from dominican men, and the government of the DR doesn't provide support to them, while looking the other way, and facilitating the putas and pimping going on there, who is exploiting whom? And are those Dominican and Columbians who operate drug operations in the US somehow indicative of latino hatred of gringos? Of course not. Nor should the fact that gringos also buy putas while on vacation mean gringos hate latinos, or the DR. Life is hard. Harder in the DR than in the US, yes, but this situation is way more complicated than some seem to want to believe it is.

Also I meant that this site is called Dominican Today, not Haitian Today and I don't carry any animosity towards Haitians whatsoever, except when they start with insulting remarks , slander and mud slinging.
The internet newspaper title "DT" gives Dominicans more of an unwritten "right" to use this media for intelligent exchanges. Haitians and posters of other nationalities are welcomed, but the name remains "Dominican Today" and you are guests and should behave as such.
To call somebody a "grifter" (a swindler or con man) if you know the meaning of the word, which some people

realist, are you able to make the distinction between a dominican woman, trying to make ends meet by selling her body, and a wall street day trader making money by pimping said unfortunate soul? i am about to make no moral judgements on prostitution; in my own mind, it should be legal. my problem is with some guy in the USA profiteering by promoting prostitution in the DR. i really do not care how many dominican men profit from that business; that is an argument for a different moment. what bothers me is that an otherwise solvent individual is supplementing his income by PIMPING in a foreign land; a land in which there is severe poverty, and desperation. it reeks, and i hope they put his ass under the jail. the same applies to all the other vermin who come here solely to promote the DR as a gigantic cathouse, and nothing else. and GC wonders why i want to run them into the sea!

dreadlocks, what about a wealthy drug dealer in Santo Domingo who helps to facilitate the transport and sale of cocaine and other drugs from Latin America to the United States. Aren't there poor people in the US dying because of those drugs? There are plenty of people who should probably be "driven into the sea" both in the DR and in the US. I agree that day trader is scum. I also agree that rich people who thrive on the backs of the poor, by exploiting them, are reprehensible. What I also understand, however, is that it is possible for a day trader like that to exist in large part because there is a huge puta culture in the DR. Family members are pimping out their daughters, sisters, cousins, and lots of people are complicit in this. There are numerous other third world countries, with poverty conditions equal to or far worse than that of the DR, without nearly the same level of prostitution.

and dreadlocks, before we decide to drive people into the sea, especially only one group of people, perhaps we should acknowledge that the vast majority of gringos visiting the DR are tourists spending money in the DR, helping the economy, and this vast majority does this WITHOUT visiting putas. In fact many gringos lend a hand to charities there, for religious reasons or otherwise. And even the ones who visit putas, as has been mentioned here by others, are temporarily assisting the putas and their families in a financial way.

Then he is the scum of the earth.
By that I mean promising them domestic work , and then holding their passports until they pay off their debt and have no choice but to sell themselves.

Has anyone ever wondered why these girls go out and prostitute themselves, besides the fact that some of them do it for the money and luxury that prostitution provides them?
If their were good paying jobs in the DR so that women could work and make a descent life and be able to afford taking care of their families they wouldn't have to resort to prostitution.
In the DR theirs an age limit for women to work almost anywhere, also looks plays a part in a job, body, has to be just like they want it......if you don't have these qualities then you don't get the job, here its not a matter of experience.
The laws need to be changed theirs alot of biased quotas in them and all have to do against women till a certain age and including men after a certain age, its like they're discarded into society like trash, and we wonder why theres so much poverty, this all molds back into prostitution and drugs, how else can they make a living.

you see, Gatita, i do not subscribe to the argument that these girls are involved in prostitution "by choice". that is like saying that homeless people live on the sidewalk, and rummage through garbage bins "by choice". life guarantees nobody anything, least of all , a smooth ride. so, there are times when there arevery few options. instead of robbing people, and selling drugs, some women have to go into prostitution, or starve. it is not the simplistic portrayal of Jander, who is a social minimalist, at best.

This is like arresting someone for smoking a joint while the big don found with a truck full of dope sits in "witness protection" in a mecedora puffing an expensive cigar and enjoying life with his ill gotten moneys including his mistresses and all. What a double standard!
I am sure in you closing argument to the jury you wiil say:
"If the Condom doesn't fit you must Acquit!
http://www.oxygenretreat.com/
That was a memorable remark by O.J.'s dream team African-American lawyer (now deceased BTW).
"If it doesn't fit you must acquit"
But karma has a way of sneaking back when you less expect it. OJ is where he belongs.
Another story: One of Balaguer's most powerful backer's and "king makers", guilty of the most hideous abuses and corruptions scams is dying from an aggressive terminal cancer.
Maybe we do pay here on earth for our trespasses and karma does come back to haunt you.
If the girls were underage than throw away the key,
As usual the DR has shot itself in the foot , these lonely guys come down here and spend 3 times as much as a normal tourist and the girls can feed their families. (sad but true)
Thats an ugly picture but it is reality and they just love to exploit a foreigner when he has this kind of business. I guess he wasn't paying off the local authorities or a judge's daughter was gainfully employed at his hotel..
he has villa he try to sell in sosua.
they should take the villa sell it give money to help stop selling our dawters.
he married has children maybe he sell them to.
Precisely my point, where you were born does not make either one of us "holy crap".
I have also served the USA and DR both in many ways that I do care to make public including armed
services, and have many scars to prove it.
So that does not make me better either, just doing my duty.
So your advise applies to you too: Think before you condemn others.
And one more thing......Semper Fi!

In the interest of good communication I have to say that I mistook you for someone else in my quick reply.
I apologize.
To call somebody a "grifter" (a swindler or con man) if you know the meaning of the word, which some people
don't , it's a cheap shot by a very angry low class individual that does not have the talent to express his anger in a civilized way and resorts to cussing others.

Thanks GC, He's an impostor and a pretender
So what if some guys ares getting laid good for them.
If no one is forcing the women to have sex with his clients whats the problem?
As far as I can see this guy set up a business to facilitate men to meet women.
If he is forcing these women into prostitution like the other Caribbean islands do.
Then he is the scum of the earth.
By that I mean promising them domestic work , and then holding their passports until they pay off their debt and have no choice but to sell themselves.
So lets see what the courts come up with before we porsecute him but so far I haven't seen or heard of any proof of that.
I guess when USATODAY put up this story from DT they copied and pasted the forum instead of the article.
