Port-au-Prince.– A group of 242 Haitians on an
overcrowded boat were intercepted by the U.S. Coast Guard and sent back to their country on Thursday.
A cutter crew spotted the
Haitians on a 50-foot sail freighter about 25 miles west of Ile de la
Tortue, Haiti, on Monday. The 242 migrants included children, a baby
and a woman who is eight months pregnant, officials said.
Officials
called the boat "unseaworthy," and said that Coast Guard members worked
quickly to rescue those aboard because of high seas and winds. No injuries were reported. All of the migrants were taken to another
cutter and cared for until they were returned to Port-au-Prince.

What Rubi is trying not so subtly to tell you, Jander, is that the US should stop demanding the DR to leave its borders wide open to illegal inmigration until they, the US, practice the same policy that they are preaching. Telling others to do what you're not capable of is called hypocrisy, you know. As the late Juan Bosh used to say: "O jugamos todos bajo las mismas reglas o se rompen las cartas".

I´m aware that LF is one of the biggest hypocrites out there, gatita. Now, the thing you can´t possibly deny is that the US (and also France and Canada), have been, indeed, telling us to do what they´re unwilling to do, mainly via their NGO´s, which haven´t given any pause to the country with their constant whining and complaining about the situation of the haitians on the DR, when everybody knows that, no matter the miserable living conditions that they may have over here, they´re (and apparently will always be) better off living on this country than on their own homeland. If they care so much about the haitians´welfare, how come they don´t do their job where they ought to do it, that is, on the haitian country itself? ¿Qué bonito no? asking other countries to solve a problem that you were among the main culprits in creating in the first place, with your aid to the coup d´états, economic blockades and other miseries that have plagued the haitian country since its inception.

Lautaro then what your saying is that the US is at fault for what is happening to the Haitians? so they should just accept them on US territory to help them out, pobresitos, kind of mentality, when we all know that yes at some point the US has had to stop accepting foreigners that embarg our beaches to claim asylum or for whatever other reason, the US is the US it can't take care of everyone and much less house all other countries
the only difference in all of this is that LF's country is slowly slipping away from him and i don't mean in terms of losing their attention, but in terms of the poor getting poorer and dying away, starving to death, the medium income people getting poor and with no back up to help them from falling thru because we all know that the rich well they support only the rich, thats what you call a country of greediness

I cannot understand the Haitian people. They want to go everywhere else in the world to work and help other nations flourish Economically, although they are not even welcome in their countries, but they have refused to work together in Haiti to making their own country prosper. They keep on destroying Haiti and its most precious Agricultural land to the point that they can no longer feed themselves.
They have destroyed the tourist industry by committing so many kidnapping crimes. In fact they are working against themselves. Are they that stupid or are they so blinded by the devil spirits that they cannot see the light by which they can save themselves and their country from shame and miseries? What' wrong with those people?
The U.S,Canada and others should demand accountabilty from the Government of Haiti to its Citizens before giving them any Financial Aids. Otherwise they are only going to steal some of it for themselves like they have always done in the past.

If the US is not willing to do what they preach, then they should stop demanding us to act otherwise, when the DR (as you have already stated) is in no position to take care of its own citizens due to the robberies of our politicos (specially the one on top), even less to take care of the poor people coming from its neighbours. (cont..) what I'm demanding is that it either directs its NGO's to where it matters, that is, to fighting poverty on Haiti itself, or, if it's unwilling to do this, at least to cancel Haiti's foreign debt to intl. banking financial institutions like the World Bank, the IMF, etc., or to grant them the necessary funds to rescue the country's agrarian sector, which have been thoroughly devastated by the competition coming from the US and other developed countries. Of course, as Quidam has already stated, this aid should be granted only after the necessary framework is in place to prevent those funds from having the same destination that other similar aid have had in the past, that is, ending up in the pockets of the native politicos.

There are very extremely highly educated Haitians that can contribute within the government they are barred because of dual citizenship, also the explosion demographic is unacceptable for a country that can not feed itself, if there should be a leader that can help the mass, the likelyhood that he will be deported or kill (ie ) Jean dominique.
