Port-au-Prince.– The lower house of Haiti's Parliament confirmed Jean-Max Bellerive as prime minister, clearing the way for the economist and veteran politician to form a new government.

An overwhelming majority of members in the Chamber of Deputies ratified Bellerive as premier of the impoverished Caribbean nation. He was appointed to the post by President Rene Preval late last month. The 52-2 vote came a day after the Senate unanimously confirmed Bellerive.

He is expected to be sworn in by Preval this week, after forming a Cabinet and submitting his government plan for formal Parliament's formal approval.

Bellerive, who is respected by diplomats and international donors, replaces Michele Pierre-Louis, who was fired as prime minister by the Senate on Oct. 30.

Who are the dignitaries in background? Are they the puppeteers? Looking at this picture one would think white people outnumber black people in Haiti. Why couldn't they have placed more local dignitaries in picture for such an important occasion? Where was Preval?

Mr Bellerive definitely have the right stuff as the say goes. His bio is very impressive. This gentleman have been a public servant for 20years . He have serve under various Haitian administrations defacto government, legitimate government,Aristide before 94 & after 94. The fact that he have survive so long in Haitian politic and have serve so many from left to right and is well knowing on the Int'l scene speaks volume of his character, which is a rare threat in our politician. The fact that this period of Madame Pierre Louis getting sack and hi selection was quick speaks volume about the changes taking place in Haitian politics,we longer change President like you change shirt anymore just get rid of the PM without the dechoukage. But on a serious note I believe he was the man the int'l community wanted. All for the better.

Are you experiencing a bad case of brain freeze up there in the tundra. It's a very fun thing for my 8years old child to experience when she is drinking a slurpy. Under your logic I presume titide was better. If that is the case can you please share with us his achievements under the 13years the lavalas party was in power. I presume to you he was a great intelect sense he had a fine command of the creole language.

Preval is physically and mentally challenged, who over the years have mastered the art of hidding his incompetence behind the prime ministers. Haiti have wasted 20 years under the governance of this imbecile. I am sick and tired of Haitians electing moron. Tell me who is your president and I will tell you what type of people you are. 3 failed mariages should tell you alot about preval.

yes Preval may have his issues, sadly he was the best choice among the bunch. Knowing Haitian politic the fact that he did not have to high tail out of haiti after his first tenure as president, and the fact that unlike most in leadership positions he does not own a McMansion in Miami speaks volume about the man. Many in the business class had backed him during his campaign thinking is was going to be business as usual, only to get a rude awakening when he got into
office. At least he is not corrupted as the usual suspects. He did not want to run originally but those that are in charge of our affairs felt that they needed him in other to keep the peace and political stability is what we need more Importantly than anything else.We did not get where we are over night,so we are not going to get out of there over night either.

do you honestly think Cuba with it's economic policy disasters was going to help Haiti in any
meaningful way. Mr Aristide was consider an arrogant beggar by the int'l community as per colonel Powell on meet the press. When 65% of Haiti's budget depend on aid from the Int'l Community can you please tell me where was Haiti going with this man.

Here is the biggest irony about Titide, why he was telling the masses in cite soleil he could not do anything for them because of the economic embargo he was facing,he had no problem finding 10mil USD per year to have blackwater mercenary provide him his helicopter and security.
For a priest that came to power in a hand me down suit,he could not explain where the money came from for his estate in Tabarre. Never mind the private jet he kept park up in Santo Dotomingo, but hey he was one of the masses so it was all good. At lease Duvalier had enough sense to keep his political thugs in line, not ceded power to them. Things are wors
