Port-au-Prince.– A UN Security Council delegation praised the party of ousted Haitian president Jean-Bertrand Aristide on Saturday for fighting to overturn the disqualification of its Senate candidates, saying it could help avert a potentially dangerous crisis.

Haiti's provisional electoral council has barred Aristide's Fanmi Lavalas party from participating in next month's Senate elections for largely technical reasons, angering supporters who have threatened to sabotage the vote. Observers fear the council's decision could lead to violence.

On Saturday, the UN delegation held separate meetings with the electoral council and political parties, including Lavalas, as part of a four-day visit to the Caribbean country.

"The country cannot allow a political crisis," said Jorge Urbina, Costa Rica's representative to the United Nations, who spoke for the delegation at a news conference. "All members of the council were glad to hear from (Lavalas) that they are using every legal instrument in their power to reverse this decision."

Elections for 12 of the Senate's 30 seats originally were scheduled for late 2007. But they have been repeatedly delayed by riots, hurricanes and infighting on a previous electoral council, which President Rene Preval ultimately dissolved. As a result, one-third of the Senate has been vacant since last year.

Poor Haitians, the United States has hurt them so much. This is blatant racism, why is it that the U.S. hurts and invades Haiti sooo Much.

Chillaxin201, do us all a favor do not abuse the word "racism" when it doesn't apply! Haiti is not a race is a nationality! The U.S. does not bully Jamaica for example for your to say racism! STOP THE ILLITERACY! When people abuse that word they come across as idiotic!

May be the reason the U.S. intervenes is because of the Haitian illegal immigration and because Haiti is in the U.S. backyard. The U.S. invaded Haiti in 1915 to 1933 and recently in 1994 during the Clinton administration (and Bush helped Aristide to exit Haiti to South Africa via DR). But also recall that U. S. Navy (Jefferson) asisted Tousaint navigate around Saint Domingue avoiding the a frontal encounter with the French army in 1799 and 1800's!

This is what you get for being the first slave nation in the world to free themselves (1804) and in turn starting a chain revolution all over the world, you get that the nations which lost the most by ending of slavery (USA, UK...) to sabotage your progress at every turn.

lavalassians don t use to participate in good elections, I think it s over, the time that all the kids in the ghetto carry guns, and all the chimere smoking marijuana all over the street of P-au-P. Bill Clinton said it clearly " Your future can be better than your past" it s the best way for a diplomat ex President to say "NO;NEVER". Preval want to edit the constitution so that they can run for a third office. In which country? HAITI? they must be kidding...there s no way the people will accept that...I see a new revolution in the horizon coming with high speed.

You can enlist all your compatriots that are in DR so they can go fight back to Haiti.

Well Mr. Troso, you are the one who is constantly putting the Haitians making a living here down. You are the "Go back where you came from" one. You think you are superior to them, and why? What makes you better than a Haitian? I'll tell you why, you think you are better than them because your skin tone is lighter! That is a complex you are born with, and you know it. Just like you feel inferior to whites, admit it, you feel superior to the Haitians, to make you think, well, I'm not white but I'm whiter than them! Same sh*t Puerto Ricans think about Dominicans. It dates back to the Colombo times. Well you see, i just turned the table on you, began pointing out the obvious, defending the Haitians, which i am not, and the voodoo stuff you are talking about i have no clue what it means, but anyway, that mentality is what pisses me off, when some people feel superior to others, like you are toward the Haitians, and why, because their country is a mess? ...

Because they have to come here to make a living? Is that why you are better than them? Well you are not, maybe luckier, but not better. You are blaming them for what Papa Doc did?! How stupid are you? And who was you president at the time? Didn't your president kill 3 young sisters in a field? Is it fair i blame it on you and your countrymen for what a mad tyrant did? You see, Mr. Troso, you really are an uneducated bum, because your thought process is on the level of an animal. Think hard where you are, and where your country is, and how quickly tables can turn against you. While you are dissing the Haitians, maybe you should thank them for being the first nation in the world to free themselves from slavery, which in turn made it possible for "you" to do the same.

Now you are not bragging about not using motoconcho's and living in a luxury private resort,
and having the latest jipeta instead of a 15 year old one, and having the direct cell phone numbers of high ranking military.
Even bringing up the race card as a last resort. Well my moronic friend, it is evident that you are a young person because even an uneducated person can't be so stupid.
The Haitian elite and corrupt politicians are the ones that have kept Haiti in darkness and misery.
They are the eternal exploiters, the ones that export their poor, sick and pregnant to the DR as if they were cattle, and they don't want the ones that left to return under any circumstances. You
left you stay out, we don't want you or need you back. It is the most cruel stance of a government
denying entry to their citizens in need. The Haitians would rather them remain in prison in the US than accept the illegals back.

We Dominicans are a culturally mixed race including Taino blood, African, European, Arab and Chinese. We could never claim "racial purity" or supremacy because that would be preposterous.
We do not have racial discrimination in the DR as you do in Haiti against whites and mulato's.
You are a mulatto and you should know since you feel you are superior to poor blacks. Notice the "poor" before the blacks, because rich blacks in your world are an exception.
I don't defend Haitians or Dominicans, I defend what is right. The immigration laws in the DR are being broken by the illegal Haitian immigrants. We as Dominicans want the illegals back to Haiti,
we can not be gracious hosts to such an immense unwanted invasion.
In Barbados they put the Haitians in the worst prisons immediately and send them back. Are they
prejudiced also? In the Bahamas authorities have been know to murder Haitians. I don't see you bring out the race card with them?
Do us all a favor and crawl back to your hole.

Good thing that you brought up that you don't even know your own Haitian history, you dummy.
Your great president Vincent accepted a promised payment from Trujillo of US$750,000 for the
murder of about 35,000 Haitians total of which only US$515,000 was actually paid since they were two payments promised one for half or $375,000 and the other one to be paid later.
Well they even "negotiated" and lowered the second payment so only $515,000 was paid total.
That is about $15 dollars per Haitian life.
Is that all that Haitian government thought that their citizens lives were worth?
BTW you ignoramus if you think that using the word "chopo" I feel insulted by you, I do not.
At least "chopos" work for a living and not mooch off their parents like you leech.
If all you can reply are one liners, and weak insults, I rest my case, dummy.

How much did Trujillo think Dominicans were worth when he was killing them? Not even $15. ZERO!

Oh i see, I'm back to being a rich person's kid again? Looks like Mr. Troso's intelligence service buddies are playing with him. LOL.

BTW The threatening private messages are quiet amusing. I'm seeing black SUVs everywhere. Scary!

Nikenpoop, I only have one name and one belief system and walk a straight line.
Maybe some other patriot brothers are getting pissed by your dumb insults and remarks.
I have no control over that, you asked for it with your insults and put downs. Remember that you are our uninvited guest in our country and are abusing our hospitality with your slanderous remarks. You insult me and you are insulting 9 million other Dominicans. So quid pro quo.
You talked pretty big and tough, don't cry foul to me baby.
If you can't stand the heat, get out of the kitchen then. Duh, duh, what did you just say?

You sound confused. LOL. I'm crying? I've been taunting you for 2 days now to do something in real life and still nada. Anyway, yes, i am very scared of you and "the patriot brothers".LOL

Anyway, How much did Trujillo think Dominicans were worth when he was killing them? Not even $15. ZERO! HAHAHAHA.

The bull is just full of hot air, can't even rebuke my statements except with childish remarks.
He is not a bull but a little donkey with a dunce hat on his enlarged head.
He is just a braggadocio moocher with not much of an intelligent comeback.
Can't even counter back with complete sentences, not much of an opponent.
Most likely functionally illiterate since his comprehension level is very low.
Said he is living in Sea Horse Ranch in Sosua and there are no Haitians or Haitian owners there except working at the gardens. LOL.
Sources tell me he is a Haitian pimp that "protects" the Haitian ladies of the evening in Sosua and rides around a worn out Honda 50, and uses the internet service in the park by the minute, since he also does work as a wachiman.

HAHAHA. "Sources". Now that is funny. Mr.Troso tell your sources to man up and present themselves so we can go from there. Oh i see, they are "Secret" agents. LOL. Oh wait, they are the patriot brothers?

Anyway, How much did Trujillo think Dominicans were worth when he was killing them? Not even $15. ZERO! HAHAHAHA

As Dominicans we don't put a dollar value on human life or our struggles against Trujillo.
A human life is priceless and can not be priced as a commodity.
To give your life for freedom has not a price tag, those who think so are sub-human and not even worth the name of "human being".
You fit into that category Mr. Donkey, you don't even have a value in the human realm.
At least Dominicans gave their life and blood for freedom and ideals of justice, you sadly have no ideals or beliefs and your only God and measuring ruler is money.
A sad case of ignorance and irrelevancy.
Things like yourself are the result of careless inbreeding and dirt cookie ingestion.

You already have felt my responses, you are so dumb you are not even aware you were ridiculed in public, and could not even rebuke one single posting with intelligence except with your clownish remarks.
Hey bruto, what color was Napoleon's white horse? Duh, duh, duh.

Still waiting on that black SUV i should be afraid of... LOL. I guess the patriot brothers run outta gas? I live where i told you i lived, and i know who i told you i knew, and if needed i can prove it, unlike your statements. You think those Coronels are sitting in their offices 9 to 5? No Mr. Troso, they are cashing in the ticket they won when they got promoted to the post. If you didn't know we have a club house here where on any given weekend many many high-ranking GOV officials can be seen with their wives/GFs, especially from armed forces (Politicos prefer Casa De Campo). Then when they are holding one of their "private" fundraisers (for bullet-proof vests, night-vision gogles...you get the idea) after a few large donations and a few chit-chats about horses, the doctors on strike, crime, whatever, you become "friends" and then you get a business card with a handwritten special cell number on the back which you can call "in case...". Stick with your AMET guy connection. LOL.
