Santo Domingo.- Florida newspaper myfoxorlando.com reports that Immigration and Customs agents arrested a Dominican woman living in the Orlando area last week for murdering her common-law husband in the Dominican Republic in Feb. 2008.
“Authorities said 37-year-old Wendy Polanco Gonzalez was arrested on charges of overstaying her visa and for falsely claiming to be a U.S. citizen,” the news site reports.
Myfoxorlando said Gonzalez entered the United States on Feb. 8, 2008, the same day authorities believe she shot her common law husband at their home. She was able to enter the states on a non-immigrant tourist visa, and eventually traveled to Florida where she got a drivers license and state identification card.
It said the authorities affirmed that the woman was able to do this by presenting a fraudulently obtained Social Security number and a Puerto Rican birth certificate. “Agents arrested Gonzalez at her home on the morning of May 21. Gonzalez is being detained until Dominican Republic removal proceedings are completed.”
