Port-au-Prince.– Gunfire broke out during a funeral procession Thursday for a popular Haitian priest, killing a man and prompting angry protests that could inflame government opponents with only days to go before elections in the troubled nation.

Marchers accused U.N. peacekeepers of shooting the unidentified man in the head during protests surrounding the funeral of the Rev. Gerard Jean-Juste, who was a close ally of exiled former president Jean-Bertrand Aristide.

U.N. peacekeeping spokeswoman Sophie Boutaud de la Combe told the press that Brazilian peacekeepers fired at least seven warning shots to turn back aggressive members of the procession, and that the soldiers were ordered back to their base after the incident.

People, please dont talk shit. I would never trust in my life I would say this but I agree with Carlos..

Beside it's unfair that a president democratically ELECTED by his people got to leave in South Africa ... for what ? Beside, I prefer a Aristide who go far at school than a big fat Duvalier. What did Duvalier since he's in France ? What did Aristide since he's in South Africa ? You got your answers ( One continue to go school and is working at university and the other loose all what he have.)

Yes he was democraticaly elected in the 90's. A lot has changed since he rose to power.
He made more money than the Duvaliers and all their friends.

Pre 86, Haiti had some problems but not unlike most other countries in the Caribbean.
From when Aristide got elected, it's been a decent into hell: Drugs, Killings, kidnappings...
