Mayor Michael Bloomberg
Zoom Picture

New York.– A Dominican immigrant and New York City resident, Frances Villar, 26, will challenge Mayor Michael Bloomberg in this fall's elections, reports El Diario/La Prensa.

Villar has lived in the Bronx since she arrived in the United States when she was three years old.

The woman describes herself as an organizer, not so much as a politician and wants "to change the city's priorities, with people on top of those priorities and not the big corporations."

Ms. Villa, good try, at least your name will be recognized by a lot of people in NYC.

I hope she is carefull because we don't need any more "sensitizing" the white, the afro, and the other immigrants against Dominican. Random crimes against hispanic have incremented exponentially since G.W. Bush and it continues with Obama. Both the white and the afroamerican are attacking hispanic.

We all know that the Jew run NYC. So she must walk the "criticism" line very carefully. I feel sorry for the hispanic living in the outer perimeter of hispanic communities (mingled with other races/nationals/religious) since they will be the victim of "impulsive" hate from other groups.

As usual, the speech of the underdog.

And by the way, it has been difficult for me to take in the reason why these people must be important for the DR. If anything they are important to the states since they pay their taxes over there.

With all due respect, Dominicans haven't really shown much prowess at running anything political.

The economy of NYC is many times bigger than that of DR; consequently, it offers way too many opportunities for exporting our brand of government and its intrinsic corruption.

I don't want to see this darn state move any further to the left, as it is highly socialistic, and next would be full-blown communism!

Left to many Dominicans, this place would soon be turned into big Santo Domingo. Would that really be a good thing? Not so sure.

Think about it.......we could soon have LF running for mayor-he is already familiar with the place!

Miss Villar, thanks for thinking big; however, until we as Dominicans have fundamentally proven our integrity beyond shadow of doubt, I don't think we should be running for anything political in this country. We already have enough problems with local crop.

Strctly my opinion. No disrespect intended.

Thank you.

Before the readers celebrate I would recommend doing a little research on Frances Villar.

Check out some of her speeches on Youtube and you'll see she's a firebrand populist leveraging the old "us versus them" brand of politics with very little substance.

She may spew a lot of ideas about what's wrong, but offers very little solutions and instead continues to lambast the upper class.

Very unimpressive, in my personal opinion. In fact, she's downright embarrasing.

Colmado,

Very well said.

The problem with these people is that they are so blinded by upper class status that they fail to see that these are the people who risk their money and create jobs in process. When was the last time one of these socialist leeches created any jobs?

All these people want is punish the rich for being successful. You know, those people that risk their money, demand little services from government; send their children to private schools; pay property taxes up the kazoo; etc. Instead, we want everybody on the take and welfare, producing many more children that they could support. Etc.

Clearly, there is no freedom, for my rights begin where these parasite's freedoms end. What a concept!

Why couldn't they all move to Cuba, last stalwart of that failed socialistic experiment-save for that other fool in Venezuela. Even Russia and China have clearly abandoned those principles and seen the light.

Estrella many Dominican cab drivers are the victim of both random crime and delivered anti-immigrant violence! The white and afro can't tell difference between a Dominican and other hispanic.

Frances Villar must have a lot of time on her hands. To compete against bloomberg who has money and power, excellent relationship with the Dominican community both in NY and back in the DR is like a chiwawah fighting against a bull dog. Nevertheless, she is only 26 and I will give her credit for trying. This is just and only the begining of probably what might be a very promising political career. I admire her resolve to compete against a giant and not shy away from this NYC Goliath, but instead continues to go head on in spite of all odds against her.
